Re: We are the ticket buyers our parents warned us about ....
In the past there were several of us that bought as many tickets as we could...but that was back in the day when we could get $30 lawn tickets as long as you got through.
Now due to the ticket prices we can't do that. So this year there was about 6 or more of us that setup a conference call. The first one that got in bought tickets for their designated group of people...unless by a miracle someone got lawn. As expected all we could get were the $157 tickets so we were able to get only what we needed for eveyone that wanted them.
Before it was no problem selling them to people that wanted to join us but at the $157 price it is very difficult these days.

Your post is the first thing that actually has made me consider doing it again. My unbridled optimism made me feel a little foolish and I fear I'll end up becoming a punchline if I keep it up past its expiration date.popcornjack wrote:FunkHouse9 wrote:I have passed the torch. That's too bad. As much as it must have sucked with your request falling on deaf ears every year, it's still such an uplifting sign of pure, unbridled optimism. Fingers are crossed for you. Just like they are every year.

What popcornjack said. Unbridled, child-like (note: child-like, not childish) enthusiasm is what keeps this country going....and I'd consider it a privilege to help.

I've done lots of things that have made me the punchline of lots of jokes, very few of them have been intentional. Yes, there is certainly a humorous element to what you do, but the fact that you do it from such a pure and well meaning place takes it out of the jokey and into the admirable. A person starting a "Hey Jimmy, what awkward cover song will you include this year?" thread would certainly be begging to made fun of; yours makes me check the set list thread (if I haven't had a chance to listen to the show) and say to myself "Crap. Well, maybe next year."FunkHouse9 wrote:Your post is the first thing that actually has made me consider doing it again. The Nautical Wheelers saga? Well it's a story about love, deception, greed, lust and...unbridled enthusiasm.
unbridled enthusiasm...?
Well , that's what led to funkhouse9's downfall.
hmmm...interesting take. So you believe, has he not been so enthusiastic he could have adverted disaster.
Yes...Ye..Yes..That's right...You see , funkhouse9 was a simple country boy. Some might say a
cockeyed optimist, who got caught up in the dirty game of concert diplomacy and set list intrigue.
So.. It was more a question of attitude than politics..

The real mystery is what happened to Funkhouses1 - 8?gunthermoose wrote:I think , you've read, one too many, Funkouse9 stories. Good day Mr. Surfpirate.
I am still researching, but if I recall, Funkhouse6 was never heard from again after a failed campaign
to get Jimmy to stop singing "Salt! Salt! Salt!" back in the late 90's.
And who can forget Funkhouse2 and his (her?) campaign to "Bring back Amy Lee!" ..... it failed miserably
and Funkhouse2 disappeared under mysterious circumstances (remember the rumors that a body was buried under the endzone of Redskins stadium?).
Funkhouse9 is playing a dangerous game and may not be fully aware of the consequences. I'm just sayin' .....
