Jimmy Buffett discussion

Hey Granny of the Hippy Kind, I hear you loud and clear... Went to the San Diego Show a few years ago and then did Bristow last year during Labor Day Weekend and the BSU-VT Game happening at that time in DC. What fun! But, not as much fun as tailgating in San Diego, that event was unbelievable.. I'm sure Vegas just wouldn't cut it as far as the total atmosphere for a Jimmy Show should be. I can't feature no tailgating and then walking out of a Showroom into the active Casino and Lights everywhere. Just would be the same, but it's still an option... There's so many Parrotheads in Boise, there should be a concert a lot closer to us! Give us more than a Bone, Give us some Meat!hippygramma wrote:I attended my first Buffett concert in Mansfield last summer. I was vacationing in Boston and we decided to plan the entire trip around the concert. Boy am I sorry I didn't become and active parrothead before now. I can't travel back east every year, I'm Idaho give me something out here I will go anywhere on the west coast. I agree with an earlier post about Vegas getting old and expensive. I always go to Margeritaville when I am there but I can't imagine the tailgate party being as much fun at the Grand. Seems like it would be too crowded for the kind of fun we had in Mansfield. I have vowed to hit a concert every year from now until death, give me a bone here please, I am almost as old as Jimmy!
Well, if he did another gig at the Fillmore, that would be...amazing. Unfortunately, he's not really the right fit for either Outsidelands or Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. There's the Shark tank in San Jose, but that's your basic indoor arena. Not sure what else there is besides the Shoreline. Cow Palace? Ugh.regalis wrote:So out of the possible venues...which is preferable? I have been to Sleep train and shoreline and am not a big fan of either honestly. I would love for him to do the Oakland Colosseum but thats not going to happen. What might be realistic and better then the two obvious choices? Assuming he plays SF this year! He could just do a small venue.....
The nice thing about the Coliseum or Sports Arena would be *tailgating*. They allow it for Raiders games; they'd pretty much have to allow it for Parrotheads.silvermoon wrote:Well, if he did another gig at the Fillmore, that would be...amazing. Dream venue? Besides the Fillmore? AT&T Park. I've been to a few concerts there (private Genentech events). Caught Paul McCartney just by hanging outside on the Embarcadero. The setting couldn't be more perfect. Only problem is the dates. Even if he plays mid to late October, there's a very good possibility the Giants will be playing post-season (here's hoping!), so that won't work. But is there a more perfect setting than that stadium? Right on the bay, the bridge in the background, sailboats moored in the marina, sea lions and seals and harbor porpoises wheeling in the bay, gulls overhead, legal weed, cool cops, great old dockside bars to start the party at...sigh. A girl can dream...

As far as venues go???.... I would love to see him at the Gorge.....great views of the river, camping/rving/tailgating, get tiem...though I think it's been off his radar for quite a while....
Seems like lots of ya'll don't like Vegas....I like Vegas...... I like going to the pre-parties and hangin' with my Buffett friends, I like strutting down Las Vegas Blvd in my concert grab and having Japanese tourist ask if they can take my picture, I like the post parties and the prospect that with a little imagination you can string together 3 or 4 concerts over the span of Friday to Friday and a few hundred miles on a rental car...... But that's just me......![]()

Not trying to be a downer, far from it. Just hoping to keep the info and discussion going until we have something really good to talk about. I still have hope!Jollymacman wrote:Seeing the T-Shirts does not give me much hope for any West Coast Dates. I know that there has been some variance in the past but does anyone know of a time where a possible 5-6 dates were missing from the shirts?
Cities I was hoping he may still be visiting:
Irvine
San Francisco
Phoenix
Las Vegas
and the place that I pray for on a yearly basis - DENVER!!!!!
We are just like you and love the pre parties and hanging out with our Buffett friends. We are waiting patiently for Vegas dates and just hope they are in October. We just had such a great time the last few years. Looking at the price of flights this year from the UK it nearly makes you faint.Dutch Harbor PH wrote:Seems like there have been incomplete tour t-shirts in the past....makes sense when the t shirts are printed well in advance of the first show and the later shows haven't even been finalized yet...What else would they put on them...???

We like the Vegas shows as well. If we want to see Jimmy we have to travel somewhere so it may as well be Las VegasDutch Harbor PH wrote:Seems like there have been incomplete tour t-shirts in the past....makes sense when the t shirts are printed well in advance of the first show and the later shows haven't even been finalized yet...What else would they put on them...???

I am trying to convince my GF in Boise to get him to play at Eagle River Pavillion!FINSUPinIdaho wrote:Screw it I am going to Alpine....

Doubt if he plays Eagle River Pavillion, but if he did play anywhere near Boise he could do the Idaho Center Outdoor Concert Area......Doubt that happens.... Back to the Gorge..... That works.... What would really be cool is to sit up in Anne Morrison Park the Stage that used to happen with the River Festival..... Now we're talking..... Nothing but standing room on the Grass for Thousands of Parrotheads.... "Just A Dream", but the thought is fun!jeepgirl wrote:I am trying to convince my GF in Boise to get him to play at Eagle River Pavillion!FINSUPinIdaho wrote:Screw it I am going to Alpine....
