Yeah I know I am getting pretty doubtful on getting dates.

Ya, I'm losing hope...but I'm okay with it...
The more immediate question is who is gonna play the Genentech Gives Back concert this June. Last year it was supposed to be U2 but they cancelled their tour, and they are indeed in the area again that week, so here's hoping!

I'm actually not OK with it, but hope is diminishing rapidly with no announcements...

Yeah, optimism is rapidly diminishing for me. I was hoping that since Vegas seems to be the anchor for the west, that once those dates were released the rest would follow. We are now approaching a month since the Vegas dates came out and you would have thought we would have heard something by now. I assume that negotiations would have at least been started before Vegas became official - I mean Jimmy's people aren't exactly new at this. Still, can't imagine planning to be in Vegas two weekends in a row and not hit the other west coast venues.
Part of my depression is hearing so many others here (rightfully) upset that their tailgating plans have been taken away. Where I live in northern CA, tailgating was never an option. I just want a show darnnit!

If he is doing west coast dates, it sounds like it will have to be before Oct. 22nd. At his Atlanta concert tonight, he mentioned the 2nd Las Vegas date was the last of the tour. Of course he is the boss and can add dates whenever he wants.

Normally the 2nd Vegas date is the last of the tour.......

We learned about Shoreline's ridiculous, uptight tailgating rules at the Kenny Chesney concert. What is up with
that? As for the concert, I dunno...I'd like to see him play one more time, but if that doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. It's the mindset, the lifestyle more than the concerts these days. I can put the top down, crank up the tunes and drive up to Stinson Beach and it's all good, ya know?

I'm guessing that Shoreline's tailgating rules are probably geared toward the hip-hop crowd, and that they have to have it for everyone so that nobody complains 'bout no discriminatin'.
I don't have to see the show either...but a Buffett concert gets a lot of Parrotheads together more easily than anything else around here, and that's *always* a fun party.

I'm still working on building that for my shows, but for some reason, I don't get 20,000 people all flooding the parking lot before *my* gigs. Go figure.
Agreed that it's the lifestyle and state of mind that's important. Jimmy just gives us an excuse to get together in greater numbers.

We're gonna have to get to one of your shows, Loren.

I think you were playing Alameda one night, but we were out of town.
My guess is a lot of these outdoor venues are cracking down on the pre-concert partying because of the lawsuits, and I can't say I blame them. There's always a couple of people who don't do it responsibly and the results can be fatal. No one wants to see that.
The funny thing about Shoreline (well, all of northern Cali, I guess, ha!) is you can burn down a J just about anywhere and no one cares, but one or two Coronas and they're all over you. And, of course, the ultimate hypocrisy is they serve alcohol in humongous double-sized cups inside, and they'll sell two per wristbanded adult, which means it's totally easy to buy enough beer to include the underaged among your group. Guess the venues want the appearance of responsibility but won't forego the profits from their own alcohol sales. It's total BS.

Shoreline's schedule stops at Oct. 15 with Journey. I'm hoping for Tues., Oct. 18 for Jimmy. I've also been looking at the Concord Pavilion, but I'm not a fan of that venue.
And, as for tailgating. I know that it's officially not allowed. However, I certainly saw phfolks having fun near their cars... AND the lot did open early.

Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit is at Shoreline, October 22 and 23. If Jimmy is coming to Nor Cal, the 18th at Shoreline is probably the right date.

its just thats Jimmy never sells out here and the parking lot party is hampered by shorelines sometimes enforcement... I would note that an Oakland Colloseam or ATT field concert would solve all of these problems but thats just a pipe dream

Tailgating would be nice for a change. The argument that Jimmy should abandon the west coast because it never sells out falls on deaf ears to me (and I'm not saying you are making this argument yourself). What do you expect when you almost always get dates early spring (end of rainy season) or october (start of rainy season). "Hey, it's 50 degrees and raining - let's go to a jimmy show!!" - hardly the ideal atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, I still go to those shows and have a great time, but you can't consistently offer the ass end of the tour and not expect sales to match.
I just wish there was some announcement if this is the final schedule or not. If not, then I will hold out hope. If so, then maybe I'll make other plans but honestly this may be my first year in a while not catching a show.

We had tailgating issues here in Phoenix in May '09. The Cricket Amphitheater never allows tailgaiting and the parking lot doesn't open until 5pm. Well, enough people complained and they said, ok, you can tailgate and they opened the parking lot at like 4pm. I don't think it was a sellout but it was at least 80 or 90%.

OTOH, if he toured out here more often, maybe he'd create a few more fans?
It might be cultural. In places where winter happens, people are more likely to dream about running away someplace tropical. On the East Coast, it's more Key West and the Caribbean; out here it seems to be more Mexico and Hawaii.
But here in most of California, we already *have* nicer weather than 80% of the US.

Have just about given up hope that he will be here in October. After the Vegas dates were announced, I thought the rest of the West coast dates were being delayed to push more ticket sales into the Vegas shows which appear to be slow. Now, I am not so sure. Perhaps he has corporate committments sandwiched in between the two Vegas shows. Anyway, I am turning in my Margaritaville secret decoder ring. Don't have one? I am sure a marketing announcement is imminent.
