Just one more way that Bubba can get money from Parrotheads......... :o

But, if we are honest with ourselves, if we were Jimmy we'd most likely do the same thing!!!!  :pirate:

I doubt they'll be checking membership cards at the door...

And if it's anywhere near as "authentic" as the Margaritaville in Vegas, it'll be hard to find many ties to Jimmy or the dream...

I Spent a good amount of time at the Margaritaville Casino the past few days. Although I've enjoyed it, I guess I was hoping for a little more Buffetty atmosphere.

The decor caters to parrotheads (sorry I forgot to take pics), but the music is still quite diverse. The first artist I heard on Monday night when walking in was Michael Jackson. It's true that you'll hear more Buffett songs here than in any other casino, but there's also a lot of music not trop rock related at all. You also won't hear anything by trop rock artists who aren't mass appeal. I really wish they'd either put up some screens and play the same videos as in the restaurant or play Radio Margaritaville throughout the sound system.

Tables are plentiful and offer a good selection of games. I believe there's only one craps table and one pai gow poker table. However, there's a good selection of three card poker and blackjack (although the BJ tables are all the shortpay variety prevelant on the strip....paying 6:5 on blackjacks instead of 3:2)

Machines are largely video slots with some traditional reel games as well. Unfortunately, video poker is not represented in the Margaritaville casino. It's also too bad they didn't make some themed machines especially for this casino featuring margaritas, flip flops, etc. on the pay reels. Maybe this will happen over time, but none of the machines at this time are parrothead related at all.

Lastly, the bar seems ok, but never seemed to attract much of a crowd during the times I was there. I thought it was nice that the Margaritaville restaurant didn't have video poker machines built into the bartop.....however, I think its a mistake not to do this in the Margaritaville casino. If I don't want to play, I'll go to the restaurant. If I want to play, I don't want to just sit at a bar and have a drink.

Overall, I'd give it about a 7 out of 10. I'll still go there and enjoy myself frequently. However, if it was more Buffetty, I'd probably give it most of my casino play and abandon other casinos. Unless things change in the coming months, that won't be the case.

Any casino that pays 6/5 on blackjack should be avoided. There are still plenty of non-grind resorts on the strip that offer an honest game.
