If you ordered Buffett tickets, LiveNation graciously offered you a "free" trial Rolling Stone subscription UNLESS you unchecked a box on the checkout page. Not wanting to be bothered by having to figure out how to cancel something later that I really didn't want now...I unchecked the box (I know I did). Well...the last two issues of Rolling Stone appeared in my mailbox...buggers! This happening to anyone else?
Since this is 2011 and everything is on the Web...I go to Rolling Stone's web site to file a cancellation. I find I can do EVERYTHING online except send a message about a cancellation or file a general complaint. I was directed to the customer service US mail address so I'm sharing it here. I can't be the only one who is getting hit with this.

If I'm wrong about this or missed something please let me know!
If my memory serves me right (which sometimes not) I recall the subscription was for a "free one year subscription" and nothing more?
I've already gotten 3 or 4 issues. I removed my stickers for mailing but also thought it said I am subscribed for 1 year.

Side note...I am not really impressed with it at all.
My point exactly Tig. It seems that everytime I pick up a copy I have to weed through pages of music stories, pictures, and advertising about crap I'm just NOT interested in. I'm not ashamed to say that I'm not very hip and I don't think I'm missing something if I don't read the latest on Rihanna or Adele (whoever the Hell she is).
HAHA! I thought the same thing of the 2 issues I have read so far. The most entertained I have been, was reading the charts at the end of the issue. I guess if music as a whole was better, I might be more entertained. Too many groups/musicians sound alike. I think the newest thing I own is Eminem. But beyond that, I would have to go back to Buffett Hotel as far as the last thing I have purchased.

I've subscribed to Rolling Stone off and on since the 70s and it's still got some very great articles in at least every issue. Folks often seem to be put off by the covers but it's the actual content that matters. Even the recent issue with Justin Bieber on the cover had some outstanding articles, particularly the one on The Clash. I also wouldn't be put off by Adele being on the cover of the latest issue as they also have this very nice piece in there:
I don't know who half of the "artists" are but I AM enjoying a lot of the articles. I almost feel like I'm a teenager defending Playboy to his mother "But they have good articles" - but they really do.

I'm with you and Tig on this one, Steve. I could care less about these new people - I don't care how well written the article is. And I'm happy to say, they seemed to have honored my "unclick"!

The articles aren't all about the new artists, one was an interview with Elton John, Howard Stern (which was surprisingly good), lots of political articles too. I could care less what the newest rap star is doing, I don't read any of the music stuff, although Paul Simon's new CD was very well received.

I love hearing about new artists whether it be via the pages of Rolling Stone, Mojo, Uncut, Relix, etc. it doesn't matter. As much as I still love reading print magazines I also enjoy tons of music blogs as well as reading the websites for Paste and No Depression, two former print magazines that are now web only.
I read the articles about musicians if I think it might be interesting, like the article about The Clash that TT referenced before. If it's an artist I don't care about, like the cover story about Justin Bieber a few weeks ago, I ignore it the same way I ignore him. And I noticed a few people mention Adele. If you haven't heard any of her music you might want to give her a listen, I think she's actually quite good.
I still haven't heard anything by Adele but I have read lots of favorable things about her from fellow music fans. I'm not sure how I've managed to do so but I still haven't heard a single note of Justin Bieber music or that "Friday" song by Rebecca Black.
Give me my Entertainment Weekly to give me all I need in life. I appreciate politics, but I don't want to read about it while I am trying to relax. it will only end up ticking me off.

I received an issue as well. Though I do believe that last year it was a free subscription, they just stopped coming and I was never charged. Hope the same thing happens this time!
First issue I got had an article about the killing crew in Afganistan and included many of the pictures. It's a horrible thing but did they have to include the pics? Isn't it almost as bad that this mag tries to profit from these unlawful killings. I pretty much just throw the thing in the trash.
