FTP Tutorial: How to download from jokelben and Sunlover FTP

Hey Mods, could we please STICKY this post so it is easy for folks to find in the future? This answers (in great detail) one of the most asked questions in this forum.

Another tip: you can add this thred to your "Favorites" in Windows. I did that with the first post SunLover did on the subject and have now added this one as well. So now I have it forever or until I accidentally erase my hard drive.

I decided that with another tour starting it might be a good time to bump this thread up for anyone who is unsure how to access either Jokelben or Sunlover's servers via FTP. Sunlover originally created this thread which is an excellent tutorial for the FTP program Filezilla. However there are other options besides Filezilla for FTP software available. These options include Cute-ftp, WS-FTP, FireFTP (this is an extension for Mozilla Firefox), and many others.

By using FTP you can download an entire Jimmy Buffett concert with one single mouse click or maybe two.

Thanks for bumping this up! I was thinking about doing that with the new tour starting.

I chose to use Filezilla in the tutorial since it is free, available for multiple platforms (Win, Mac, Linux) and pretty easy to set up. Of course, you may use any FTP client you like. The main settings are the server name and logon info.

As always, if anyone has any questions or issues with FTP, please feel free to ask. Between urlcenter, myself, and other users, we should be able to help.

It occurred to me that the FTP programs I listed are for MS-Windows and not all parrotheads use Windows PC's. So for all of the MAC users out there are also a number of FTP software options available, the link below will take you to a webpage which lists a number of FTP options for the MAC:
