It seems like such a sweet spot, I am surprised no one redeveloped it.

Rumor had it that David Letterman owned it for a while. Basically now it's run by lizards! In 2009 we all went up and took floor tiles as souveniers - it's amazing you can just walk up there and go through the ruins, sad in some ways.

Very cool pics....I am going through my grandparents slides from the 40's, 50's and 60's all from the Caribbean and came across one of my grandmother at Autour....I will scan and post.....it was a neat find and a nice surprise...

What Debbie said. What a life for your grandmother and a treat for you to have those special photos. Cool!

Love the island, the song and the place. Having been on the island when it was still open, I can see in my minds eye the mini mokes and scooters in the lot. I can only imagine the craziness through his lyrics..but can definitely see it taking place.

and for those that don't know ...i'm the one in the Anguilla video singing the french lyrics...

It's a song that has grown on me over time. At 1st I didn't care for it. The intro felt like it went on forever. However the lyrics are like many of Jimmy's songs pretty catchy and now it no longer gets skipped on the MP3 shuffle.

Perhaps it's a case of what happenned at the Rock, stayed at the Rock... but for all the people that must have partied there, it amazes me that I've never seen a picture of Autour, prior to the fire, in full swing. Maybe cameras were not allowed in.

Any clues ?
