AirTran or JetBlue, would you fly either again?
These have became an option for airfare recently with better prices than Delta or American. Any thing you care to share?

Re: AirTran or JetBlue, would you fly either again?
I used to fly Air Tran to GA, until they changed their planes, crammed more seats in and took out snacks for purchase (never announcing there would be no food available on the flight) and the in seat tv screens. My last 2 flights were literally the flights from hell and I swore I'd never fly air tran again. Maybe short hops are better, and maybe they'll improve now that Southwest owns them, but I wouldn't bet on it. As with any airline, YMMV.Parrothead27330 wrote:These have became an option for airfare recently with better prices than Delta or American. Any thing you care to share?

Re: AirTran or JetBlue, would you fly either again?
AirTran came and went so fast out of my local airport I never had the chance to fly them. I have flown Jet Blue only for probably 4 years now. The planes are clean, the attendants pleasant and I've only had one long delay and that was the fault of horrendous thunderstorms on the way back from Raleigh 2 years ago. Granted they give arrival times that are quite padded but the end result is you get there when you planned to. Get a Jet Blue AMEX card and use it for everything. I went to St Barts in 09 for the Le Select concert for $65. I'm going to MOTM for $149 and that's only because I'm flying Cape Air from Key West to Ft Myers on the way home. I hate flying and I find the TV and Satellite radio feeds a good distraction. And their terminal at JFK is brand new and not a bad place to spend layover time.

Scarlet, same thing here with Jet Blue. I've heard good things about them, and my folks flew them a couple of times when they had a gate in Long Beach, but they really don't have a presence here in SoCal, unfortunately. Gate space is a precious commodity, no airline wants to give any up. Still hoping Jet Blue will find a way to make it happen again.

Most of what I have heard about griping airlines is the changing of flights and delays. Last trip I flew AA. They must have changed the flight times about 8 times in 9 months. I don't know if it is an Expedia thing, but if AA changed our flight time and it didn't work with us, we could change our flight all together. My neighbors fly Jet Blue and no problems. I am also pretty sure my boss used Jet Blue last time, and no gripes from her as well.

I've flown on AirTran with no problems, and I've only flown on JetBlue for one flight with no problems.

AirTran has been my airline of choice for nearly ten years.
Good schedule, good fares, good service.
I fly them two or three times a year, and have never had any problems

You'll forgive me for taking an airbus to Hawaii, won't you? I really do like Hawaiian Air...but I think they only use the Airbus now.SeattleParrotHead wrote:JetBlue flies Airbus planes![]()

I did see those Alaskan planes at the airport! Made me laugh...just like Hawaiian Air's gates being located right next to Air Canada's at LAX. Couldn't figure out why all these women and girls were wearing Ugg boots to Hawaii, til I saw the gate.SeattleParrotHead wrote:I'll forgive you for now.... hopefully Alaska Airlines will add some LA to Hawaii flights!

Didja see the new Ugg store in Waikiki in the Hyatt Regency? I couldn't believe the number of people that were carrying multiple shopping bags full of Ugg stuff out of that place!

It would be fun to see this one in Hawaii, it's called the Boeing Salmon Thirty Salmon:

Nope, but I did see someone on the plane with an Ugg box. I only spent a couple hours in Waikiki, and with 2 kids in tow shopping was out of the question. We're lucky we made it thru dinner.SeattleParrotHead wrote:Didja see the new Ugg store in Waikiki in the Hyatt Regency? And I wanna go on the Salmon Thirty Salmon!!! That is awesome!! Might need to find a way to sneak up to WA in July if my Cuz flies out there with the girls. Would be a full house at my aunt's though, so not sure how that would work.

I think MacPhin & Tagalong went to St Barts today via AA and about a month ago their flight time was changed putting their St Maarten/St Barts connection in jeopardy. The problem there being that the St Barts airport closes at dusk. They were able to fix it only because the small airline from SXM to SBH had one more later flight they had room on because they added a different plane.

Re: AirTran or JetBlue, would you fly either again?
Pretty much all the carriers do that as they periodically juggle their schedules. If you've booked your trip very far in advance of your trip, it behooves you to check for updated flight times. We booked our tix for our April trip to Hawaii last fall and a couple of times Alaska contacted us to tell us that the departure time had changed. Ruh roh! thought I, but it ended up being only 12 minutes later. Re: AirTran or JetBlue, would you fly either again?
I've flown AirTran a few times but I usually try to avoid using them. Not because I've had any bad experiences but in NY they fly out of LaGuardia, not JFK. LGA is a $hithole of an airport. Not that JFK is paradise but it's closer and a lot easier and cheaper for me to get there than to LGA.
I like Jet Blue much better now that their new terminal is open in JFK, I used to call them Jet Blew. Their old terminal was too small and it was always crowded. But my carrier of choice is still Delta. NY isn't a hub for them but I think they have more flights out of JFK than any other airline and I can almost always get the cheapest fare on Delta, even cheaper than the so-called low cost airlines.

Re: AirTran or JetBlue, would you fly either again?
We have flown Jet Blue several times and really like them. I find their personnel to be wonderful. Another nice thing about JetBlue is that after you book your travel, if the airfare happens to go down they credit your JetBlue account for the next time you fly. However, you need to keep track of this - it isn't automatically done. I have received $100 worth of credits in the past. I believe the credit is good for a year.
Ciao!
