We are home! We cracked open the new stuff we git him..books, toys, video games. He chose dr. pepper flavored sleeping gas. The nurses adored him and he chatted their ears off. Thats my boy!

I have the boy of steel. He has been barely phased by any of this. A little soreness/crankys in the mornings after a night's sleep kept him from taking the pain meds, but usually water and something to eat gets him back to his 'normal' self.
I've pushed the water like mad, gotten my ass kicked at CandyLand more times than I can count, and I could live the rest of my life without seeing another episode of SpongeBob (Netflix is a blessing AND a curse).
I've had to lay off the tickles, which is just killing me because poking his armpits is like, my favorite thing to do in the world.

That's great, about his health. Really awesome. If Candyland and Chutes and Ladders disappeared from my house, I would not shed a tear.

We had out final follow up with the ENT. They send the tonsils to a lab to make sure there are no tumors or signs of infection that may have spread. Nothing serious in his results, but his tonsils were so full of gunk he just would have kept getting sick over and over again if they were not removed.
I feel so fortunate he healed so well. I am convinced it is because his body knew it shouldn't have tonsils.
Plus also, no more snoring!

So glad it all worked out so well, Mal. I know it's a big relief to you. I had a number of little ones with the same issue. Parents would bring them in for a speech eval, I'd look in their mouth and see ginormous tonsils. All had a history of strep, sore throats, snoring, mouth breathing, apnea etc...but the docs wouldn't take the tonsils out. Some of these kids had almost no airway. Every single one of them got their tonsils removed after I saw them. Too bad it had to take my recommendation to get it done...a parent's concern should be enough to get a referral to an ENT.
Hmmm, too bad the ENTs didn't reward me for all the business I sent their way.
