I really think if they dont repeal this policy that Jimmy will never be back there.
They may not read the internet but all they have to do is read their tickets. People here on BN who were planning on going to the JLL show have said "NO TAILGATING" was printed on the tickets. Anybody who goes to the show knows the deal.
All due respect, how many people actually read their tickets. Maybe while they're waiting in traffic to get into the show, out of boredom, but I don't think many people actually look at them other than to see what their seats are.
I read my tickets as soon as I received them,
which of course was AFTER I paid for them,
and which was the FIRST TIME the NO TAILGATING
change in policy enforcement was disclosed to me.

Had that been disclosed prior to my purchase,
their likely would have been NO ticket purchase.

Whether or not people read their tickets is irrelevant. The venue made the information known, granted they didn't do a very good job of it, but they did get it out there. Anyone who shows up the day of the concert b!tching about not being able to tailgate doesn't have a leg to stand on.

I agree this is the pitts for those that were unaware of the change in enforcement of the policy.

Now, however, you have some planning to do. There are other venues without tailgating. And folks have become quite creative in planning "pre-parties" in various locations....most involve a bus to take folks to the concert from the pre-party spot.

Abandoned parking lots, park and rides, hotel parking lots, parks, private clubs....I've heard of tailgating at all of those locations. Of course it will involve someone getting permission and planning the logistics... which could be fun (or a royal pain). I sure hope the BNers find a place to congregate...that is such an important part of any JB show.

Last year when GW opened late the Residence Inn, where many of us were staying (and where people joined us) was VERY nice about us using the grill they provide on their patio - we had food, music, drinks and someone even set up a beer pong table until the gates opened. We left in rather a hurry once it was confirmed that we could get in but we left the place as clean as we found it and they said they'd be happy to have us do it again any time. The Comfort Inn, however, has no such facilities and will make people attempting to tailgate in their parking lot move along. Ask in advance at the hotel where most BNers stay.

Boxer from WMZQ was in the Pentagon today for a "salute to armed forces week" in DC. My husband went over to talk with him about what happened at WMZQ fest this past weekend. He walked up to him and said "we need to boycott JLL....you guys need to get involved in this!" When he told him that people were not allowed to sit in their cars and eat a sandwich, his eyes got really big. and said "really?" He was busy with his show and didn't want to talk about it then. Bob thought Boxer was going to call the MPs over if he kept bugging him so he went back to his office. He was going to make up some Boycott JLL signs but he had to brief somebody...somewhere.....

That would be my guess. Isn't that the rumor why Cleveland didn't get a show for so many years?

Very good idea! The Red Roof was very welcome to all things Buffett that weekend. We weren't out of control...just fun and very respectful. Of course...there was a small fire in the mulch, but we put that out rather quickly. I would think that most of the hotels in the area are going to be happy for the business and might be very accommodating.

I would think it would go back to ticket sales. IF he does go back JLL doesn't change their policy, the only ticket sales will be the scalpers. LOL..there is one way to hit them where it hurts.

We rented out one of the parking lots close to the park. Everyone chipped in to cover the cost of the lot, cops to monitor who got in and out, etc. Phritz made sure we were cool with the Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission - everyone had a wristband and if they were under 21, they had a different wristband. A lot more went on behind the scenes to make sure we were good with the city too.

Everyone had a grand time. I will never forget to look on the people who were working at Specs when we drove up in the UHaul. :wench:
A few weeks before the show, the venue decided to open a lot to tailgating. I think it was $50 a car.

I don't know if the Lube is located where you could do something like this but if you are interested in the specifics, let me know.

The Woodlands has a way to go with tailgating. It is a major step for them to even allow it. That community is so "uppity" they need to learn to relax and have a good time.

Yeah, well that stupid Rolling Stone Magazine was on the website, too, and I didn't realize that until they started showing up in my mail.

There are, of course, shows I would go to anyway, but for a Buffett show I would be seriously p.o.'d if I made arrangements and put up money for hotel, tickets, etc. and then found out there was no tailgating.

And for something like this, which is a huge departure from standard past years' policy, it's just crummy of them to not publicize it. Could you imagine if this happened at GW?
You only have two options - havin' fun or freakin' out...

As I have said before. No Tailgaiting. No Alcohol has ALWAYS been the official policy at Nissan/Jiffy Grease
ever since the place opened. The same is true for many venues. Signs everywhere.

THIS year ... they decided to enforce it, apparently.
Small print on a website I don't visit is a backasswards CYA on their part. Sux and is underhanded.
Live Nation/TicketMaster have my email address.
They've had it for years ever since I first registered to buy a ticket online many moons ago.
They send me emails about upcoming concerts and whatnot at least once a week.

Did they send me info about their new *change in policy* at Jiffy Lube Live?

Nope.

No one ..... media included ..... expected this until after tickets went on sale.

True but they can retort, you do have access to the internet right? You should go to the web site for changes in policy before you purchase your ticket, if you don't agree with it, then don't purchase it.

I think the problem is....the policy didn't change....it is what is always was.....the difference is the enforcement. This year they chose to print "No Tailgating" on the ticket....something that was just never enforced before. Once people saw it in print, they started to question it and found that this year it would be strictly enforced. That is when they started to publicize that there actually was going to be a change this year. Tickets were already sold when we learned they actually would be enforcing a rule that was in place, but never enforced before. That is what is different...the enforcement. It is a lousy way of doing business if you ask me.
