Q: Will the Rapture happen sooner in Australia, like New Year's celebrations?
A: Yes. May 21st begins first on Kiritimati Island, a Pacific Ocean atoll, so presumably the earthquake would strike there first.
I can't make this stuff up!

Kiritimati Island is the +14 hour from GMT I was referring too. So, it's probably already started. RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!
There's a differing opinion as well. This says it's supposed to start at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time, Saturday. If that's the case that gives me until 8:00 tomorrow night to get a few things in order.

Tomorrow I'm going out early and putting small pieces of dry ice in the shoes, a pair of crumpled pants resting atop the shoes with the shirt one the ground next to the pants. I've got enough to do six "people" who got taken away. It ought to be great fun.

I want pictures!
OH SPEW!!!! If you don't post pix I'm going to come find you and beat you repeatedly about the head and neck!

She should really do stand up.
Apparently the guy wrote a farewell letter for his followers to continue on. Maybe he's taking the money and running.

It would have to be before it's 5-22-2011 at the International Date Line, right? Because if it happened at say, 5 p.m. on the east coast, it's already 5-22 somewhere else.
That would make a great song,
It's 5-22 Somewhere.
I won't pay off my tab, got no time to gab
Cuz we're down to an hour or two
Hahahah...
I'm not exactly sure what time it's supposed to happen, but I've already signed up for post apocalypse looting.
I got Rapture dibs on the Mercedes in the church parking lot.

Trust me, the pastor driving a Mercedes will still need his car on Monday morning.

I know! I was looking forward to post rapture looting and knowing that my upstairs neighbors (who do missionary work) wouldn't be waking me up with home renovations everyday.
When's the next one scheduled? I want to start a countdown.

so, a couple small earthquakes, and a volcano in Iceland spewing smoke and ash clouds big enough to get warnings to avoid Reykjavik. Anyone care to bet on whether the folks in the church use that as part of their cya explanation?

Wow. Exactly how do religious nutjobs get so much air time?
He claims that the time and date were worked out from studying the bible.
<Puts Archaeologists’ Hat On>
Which bible? There are many.
He doesn't look much like someone fluently versed in the ancient scripts, such as Aramethaen or early Hebrew. So I doubt he read the original scripts and parchments.
Did he miss the bit where the bible has been translated and retranslated and then revised into many versions, all with the meanings massaged to suit the zealot in power at the time? Adding and leaving out bits as they went along.
Did he not realise that the bible is not contemporaneous but cobbled together from oral histories many many years later? Which gives it as much creedence as a the inane scribblings of Michael Moore or Al Gore?
Oh well, I wasn't too concerned, I knew that even if I was wrong about religion in all its forms I wasn't going anywhere.
