Re: Anybody See the New Pirates of the Caribbean movie?
It's good. Better than #2 and #3, but not as good as the first one. At the end of the movie, we waited while the credits rolled because we thought they were gonna let us see what happened to the preacher, but I guess that will be in #5 !!! I thought Penelope Cruz was a better actor than what I saw in the movie...?????? Johnny Depp is very good at what he does for a living.
We also wondered what happened to the guy with the wooden eye that kept popping out. Maybe left on the ship, which will also be in PofC #5.

Re: Anybody See the New Pirates of the Caribbean movie?
The least enjoyable of the series so far...agreed all five of us that went. Not a bad movie but it was strange to watch a Pirates movie without Bloom, Knightly, plus the two English soldiers and the two pirates who were supporting cast in each of the previous three movies.
This movie without the other three preceding it would have been ok. Both Cruz and McShane (who is awesome in Deadwood) were good but seemed out of place and the whole mermaid romance was well silly and non-engaging.
And a pirate movie without a ship battle on the high seas...blasphemy
5/10, wait for the DVD.
Cheers

Re: Anybody See the New Pirates of the Caribbean movie?
Hadn't planned to see it, but ended up there last night.
Mostly obligatory.
Johhny Depp is indeed very good at playing Capt. Jack Sparrow.
I did not realize that mermaids had vampire-like qualities.
When they went "up" into the the Land where the Fountain of Youth was, I felt we were entering Wonderland. Hmmm...coincidence?

Re: Anybody See the New Pirates of the Caribbean movie?
Saw it last night.......even thought I love, love, love Johnny Depp and loved the other POTC movies......I didn't really like it. I didn't think there was that much chemistry between Depp and Cruz. I missed the 2 goofy pirates from the other movies. I didn't get the Spanish ships just passing by the pirates.....what was that point? They were in such a hurry they couldn't have a sea battle to stop them?
Although I would have loved to see Johnny Depp in 3-D.....I'm glad I didn't pay $17.25 to do it.

Tom and I saw it last night and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We did see it in 3D. . . . . mmmmm Johnny Depp in 3d . . . . sorry, I digress, which may or may not have made a difference. I found it to be on the same level as the first one with just enough special effects to compliment the story instead of overwhelming and distracting from the story. I wasn't a fan of the fish head pirates or the inside out ocean. I thought there was just enough "feelings" between Angelica and Jack. I did miss Ragetti and Pintel but I'm glad they didn't get "taken". I understand why the Spanish sailed on by without a battle. Think of what they did when they arrived. I liked it so much I may see it again, not in 3D. Damb that was expensive!!! And given the last scene, the next one should be comical!

Re: Anybody See the New Pirates of the Caribbean movie?
We saw it in 3D too. Luckily the theater has "Recession Tuesdays" and popcorn and drinks were a buck each.
There were maybe ten people tops watching it, us included.
