Compass rose.
I would like to get a compass rose ratio. It will be my first and I'm a bit afraid of pain. I can't find a good pic. I want something traditional. But I also want it to not be too masculine Kwim. I am hoping to put it between my shoulder blades on my lower neck. Is this a very painful spot.

Re: Compass rose.
I have a compass rose on my right forearm....it's in this album, I think.
This one didn't really hurt at all....just depends on where you're putting it, how big it is and how your pain tolerance is. I'm twisted, I like being tattooed....a lot.

None of my back tattoos hurt that bad.....really, the only one that really hurt was on my ribs....I swore I wouldn't do another one there, but now I'm thinking.OceanCityGirl wrote:I would like to get a compass rose ratio. Re: Compass rose.
I have gotten inked 4 times, and it is more of a annoyance than an actual "pain." The first was my shoulder blade and the last was on my ankle. No worries!

Re: Compass rose.
Get what you want, don't worry about what other people think.
I love old schooners and tall ships and knew that's what I wanted for my tattoo. The tattoo artist said it looked like something some guy going in the Navy would get and asked if I didn't want something more feminine like a heart or a rose. I just smiled and said I couldn't think of anything more feminine than a beautiful sailing ship on the sea. The name of my ship is Love & Luck, she sails on my upper back, left side and 11 years later, I don't regret getting it for one minute.
This isn't a great quality pic, but here it is any way:
It really didn't hurt, in fact I thought the worst part of the whole process was the itching that you can't scratch while it heals. Like others have said, it depends on where you get it and your personal pain threshold. My aunt got a tattoo of a tiny little flower on her hip and she was cussing the whole time and said it hurt worse than childbirth...when my son was born, I called her from the hospital and told her she was full of crap, there's no way in hell that tiny flower hurt as bad as what I had just been through.
Good luck with the ink!

Re: Compass rose.
My ankle hurt almost as bad as the one on my left shoulder blade. My left breast one comes in 3rd, and I had always heard tats on the breasts were nothing. I think it was the artist, that tat is a POS now.pbans wrote:None of my back tattoos hurt that bad.....really, the only one that really hurt was on my ribs....I swore I wouldn't do another one there, but now I'm thinking.OceanCityGirl wrote:I would like to get a compass rose ratio. One of my crew members has a Compass rose tat. He calls it his familly compass and it steers him straight. In the Northern point and Southern points are his Mom and Dad's names. On the East and West Points are his kids names...... kinda cool...

I need to keep it partly covered at work until I get some seniority. I am leaning to between the shoulder blades upper back/lower neck. I'm worried it would be a painful spot due to the spine

have one on my upper leg/hip and that hurt like hell. The one on my right shoulder blade wasn't nearly as painful, but they do hurt.
