Looking for a place to go tubing in one of the rivers. My folks are in the Spring Hill/ Brooksville area. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I've always wanted to go tubing on Crystal River, but haven't gotten around to it. It's absolutely beautiful and the manatees are easy to spot. Try these links for starters.

A bit north and east of your family in Alachua County is the Santa Fe river. Look into the High Springs area. You'll find several outfitters for tubing, canoeing and cave diving. A beautiful area.

In North Central FL, check out the Ichetucknee River. It's one of the clearest, coolest rivers I've ever seen. It's been a while but I think it flows into the Santa Fe River mentioned above, which then flows into the Suwannee River if memory serves.

The two best places for tubing are the Ichetucknee River which is a state park. They have a maximum number of peeps they let on the river at a time and they can be pretty busy this time of year on the weekends and holidays.
The second best spot is Ginny Springs:
http://www.ginniespringsoutdoors.com/. This is not a state park and is privately owned so it costs a little bit more. It's my favorite springs to relax at. You can camp, canoe, tube, scuba dive, play volley ball, or BBQ/picnic etc... The place is pretty big.
Remember the springs are a constant 72 degrees which is pretty cold to me but is refreshing when the temps hit the high 90's.
Have fun!

Be warned, Ginnie Springs is more like a tailgate crowd at a Buffett show. Fun place but I would likely not take my kids there.

I love to go tubing on the rivers in Michigan. However doesn't one get worried about alligators in rivers in Florida???

I don't know Meg......with some of the looney tune drunkards I've seen tubing on the rivers here in Michigan I almost would rather take my chances with Gators.
