I believe that is illegal in MA. make sure you file a 1099 for him, then it's just gainful employment on his part.maid memories wrote:Hah! Now if Buffett keeps in line with the June dates we may be able to have one before they start issuing permits for the summer season.
I don't know what is going on down there this year. I can't believe they didn't have the life guards or fee collectors on duty yet. It will be a wait and see type of thing.
Too bad we don't have enough peeps to hire the place out for the night with a band...that would be awesome! of course next year The Incredible Casuals may be back. I couldn't believe how dead it was...

Theoretically, if we had somebody coming in to play that could draw enough, we wouldn't need to rent it out to convince them to stay open. I just want to rent the bartender.

On a serious note...and correct me if I am wrong. A "dead" car has nothing to unpack but a warm body or two. A "not-so-dead" car has a lot to unpack. It can be coolers, a deck, Tonga Juice or a fabulous spread of food. A dead car would go in first, so the not-so-dead car can come in behind. That way, they can unload all of the goods without having to deal with a car behind them...ie, they unload unto the walkway. But since we parked in the front row, we all had a not-so-dead car.NYCPORT wrote:Now that we are a back in bidness can someone explain the dead car thing to me one more time?

Re: Who's Going to Great Woods 2012?
Not nessissarily......what the 2 dead cars are for ,,, to occupy spaces so the 2 trucks in our case they can park side by side ( cars are usually parked 2 deep)......thhis way, they can run the deck between the 2 trucks.....could of been a problem this year since we were the front rowtigzoe wrote:On a serious note...and correct me if I am wrong. Re: Who's Going to Great Woods 2012?
Ok....so I've been thinking about this.....and am just throwing it out there for discussion...
What would people think about buying into a "GW Weekend". The reason I choose the words "Buying into" is because in order to make this work, we have to have people commited to it...
First, I talk to the Beachcomber (as Island Vibes Entertainment) and tell them I want to bring in a group of people for the weekend, and would like to help them book artists to play a late afternoon/evening show on Friday for the group which is still open to the public (which keeps us from having to shell out $5K to rent the place). We work with local hotels on Cape Cod, and get a group rate for Friday, Sat & Sunday nights.
Saturday morning we have a bus arrive at the hotel and we all stuff our coolers, chairs, tents, Tiki Bar etc into the storage compartment (hey, if they can stuff a whole hockey teams equipment in there, they can fit our stuff) and we ride up to Shaws and to the concert together.....we'd have a designated Driver, we'd have our own bathroom, we don't have to worry about dead cars and would probably also have electric to run music, blenders etc.
I think in order to make this work we'd need about 40 people (think the buses have a 56 passenger Max). It's before "Summer rates" really kick in, so we could get decent rates (our rates for the motel we stayed at on the beach were the same rate as the Comfort Inn in Mansfield), and could have our own party on the Beach Friday night with Trop Rockers.
Like I said...to do it we need people commited to doing it....you're either in for all of it or not at all in order to make it affordable for everyone.
Whaddaya think???

Re: Who's Going to Great Woods 2012?
Count us in. I would add one thing. Make sure we have contingency plans if Bubba decides to do two shows (fingers crossed). Ask the hotels to keep the Thursday night blocked off just in case. I would not want to drive back to The Cape after a Thursday show, or we could just stay in Mansfield Thursday and head out Friday morning to The Cape. Just thinking out loud...

Wellfleet was about 1 hour and 45 minutes....give or take. Since it was Sunday, most people were heading out of the Cape, not into. From there, it didn't take long at all to get to Ptown.LIPH wrote:I've never been to the Cape, how far is it from Mansfield?

If enough people want to do this, I wouldn't start dealing with it til after the New England Trop Rock FestivalNYCPORT wrote:Count us in. I would add one thing. that we're co-producing... will probably work on booking the artists at MoTM...and would tell them it's all contingent upon Buffett's schedule. If he does 2 shows again....then I'll price it for people doing one or two shows.....but think the people doing 2 shows would have to be given seats before those wanting to do only one show.

Re: Who's Going to Great Woods 2012?
Agree....the bus leaving for the show would have to leave around 8:30am ...getting us to Shaws around 10am.....plenty of time to get last minute stuff and back in line for an 11am lot openingtigzoe wrote:Wellfleet was about 1 hour and 45 minutes....give or take. One little piece of info, even though late June isn't "high season", there is traffic coming off the Cape on Sat. mornings, having seen it way too many times coming onto the Cape. That being said, we would want to leave a bit earlier....just thought you all should know.
