do you still have a copy of your rental agreement? they should have a place on there asking if you want or declined the toll tag like insurance or gas. If you do and nothing is marked, you can use it to show they didn't discuss the toll tag with you.

2 years ago in Dallas, I went through a couple of toll plazas without a tag on my Enterprise rental. I saw a charge on my credit card for the amount of the tolls only. No extra charge.

Are you sure it's Budget's fee and they're not just passing on the fee they're being charged? I got stuck in an EZPass only lane in NY before I had an EZPass and the charge I got in the mail was for the toll I owed plus a $27 administrative fee. No rental car involved, it was my personal vehicle.

While we were in the Tampa area for the concert back in April, we rented a car. We weren't informed of the new situation with the tolls or that one could get a pass pre-loaded. We didn't know of any of this until after we picked up the car. We didn't think we'd run into any tolls, but we did, two of them. Budget is charging us $25 admin fee for each toll we encountered. I don't feel this is fair since we were never informed about the transponder when we picked up the car. Had I known, I would have gotten the transponder.
Good luck with this Carol. I'm surprised the rental company didn't ask you how you wanted to handle the tolls. Well then again.........
I don't think they have to tell you this part since they don't know if you're going to be going onto toll roads, in this situation.

Wayne - I rented at the CS airport. They have nothing to do with the toll charges. That happens at an office in Dallas.

Since I couldn't get a toll tag in CS, they may not have hit me with an admin fee. Now, I've seen an option for the tag when I rent since we can get them.

I forget all the specifics right now, but I was able to get the admin. fee waived on a violation in Dallas a few years ago. Good luck!
