So hang in there and keep being patient, West coasters. Hopefully your time is coming very soon. (SEE-it's not ALL about the East coast/New England).

NADIRAH says...........PORTLAND
When I was talking with Nadirah at the bowling alley in Elkhorn last weekend, I mentioned to her that a certain author/P.H. friend of ours from the Seattle area said to tell her hello, she (Nadirah) said to tell her they'd be in Portland around the time of the Las Vegas dates, possibly between the two shows there. Apparently other West coast dates are currently being negotiated. (Not a big surprise, I guess, but it's nice to hear it from someone in the know).

It's not as if I'll get to go out there, I just know how frustrated I'd be if I were living out west. (And how many frequent flyer miles I'd have).TongaTam wrote:Of course it is!!!!

Re: NADIRAH says...........PORTLAND
Other than Las Vegas (which I bowed out of this year so I could go to Key West), San Diego would be my first choice, but yes, those parrotheads in the Pacific and Mountain time zones are really a great group of people, and I love hanging out with them.TongaTam wrote:I would LOVE to hit a west coast show! No, but Nadirah sings. (And very well, I might add).surfpirate wrote:Nadirah bowls?
At the bowling alley, there's a camping and rec. area in the back with a stage for musicians to preform on. The last few years, The Boat Drunks and our very own Cedar Island Band have been playing there the night before the Alpine concert, and Doyle Grisham, Mike Utley, John Patti, and Nadirah have been preforming with them. Also, this year, J.D. (from Radio Margaritaville) was there.

I have never been to Portland, OR either, but I think I would still take Portland, ME. Lobster, steamers, and Gritty's Vacationland microbrew is a perfect meal in my book!Wino you know wrote:I LIVED in Portland, Maine for a few months right out of high school prior to entering the Navy.

Re: NADIRAH says...........PORTLAND
When I "lived" in Portland, ME, I worked on a lobster boat for about 8 months. I didn't get to try any microbrews (if they were around then), or, for that matter, ANY beer. I was still under age. (Now you have an idea how long ago that was).tigzoe wrote:I have never been to Portland, OR either, but I think I would still take Portland, ME. HOWEVER, once the boat was at sea, a few of the old timers would give me some of the beer they'd bring along for the trip. We'd steam along the east coast selling what we caught to merchants in some of the ports. Those old duffers thought it was the funniest thing when they'd get a few beers in this skinny, naive teen ager from Iowa.
Amazing how some people are easily amused, isn't it?

That does sound like fun! Isn't it a rule, that if you are going to be a fisherman, you need to drink?! No matter what age.Wino you know wrote:When I "lived" in Portland, ME, I worked on a lobster boat for about 8 months. It cracks me up when I hear that they used to feed the prison inmates lobster since it was so cheap. I want those days back!
