They look like one team going south .....UAHparrothead wrote:What the hell is Maryland wearing tonight? Somebody was smoking the good crack on that one.
and a completely different team going north.
Too weird. Of course it's designed by the UMD grad Under Armour dude.

Re: 2011 NCAA Football
having not seen the uniforms themselves, I gotta think the mention of the checkered flag, especially if it's gold/yellow and black is a tip of the hat to the Maryland state flagsonofabeach wrote:and you thought Georgia's were bad? That's the Maryland state flag? Did they lose a bet with Delaware?

Re: 2011 NCAA Football
no, Delaware wasn't that cool. They copied the colors/design from the family crest of Lord Calvert, the first Baron Baltimore. It's a combo of his crest (made royalty for his part in a battle (the yellow and black represent the fortress palisade he and his men stormed) and his wife's family crest. It is the only state flag based on English heraldry.chippewa wrote:That's the Maryland state flag? Did they lose a bet with Delaware?

Re: 2011 NCAA Football
Maryland actually redesigned their uniforms and they have something like 10 different styles, plus helmets (which has to be a seriously expensive thing to do). But, Kevin Plank, the founder of Under Armour is trying to be like Oregon/Nike and get his brand out there. I wonder if they will have different unis for every game. Here is a link if anyone cares: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ter ... _blog.htmlRinglingRingling wrote:no, Delaware wasn't that cool. Nonetheless, nice to get get a win; especially against a FL school (sorry sonofabeach).
Twenty degrees and the hockey games on...

Re: 2011 NCAA Football
Their fans were filing out just as fast as the GA fans were....But the Auburn fans kicked themselves for leaving. They get a W for the week and that turned a crappy game around for their fans.

I gotta go with Florida A&M.
Both UM and UND were going with throwbacks yesterday for some reason, I missed the explanation between flipping channels.

I saw a little of the Oregon/Neveda game yesterday. Oregon was wearing day glo yellow jerseys that were so bright I was tempted to get my sunglasses.

Re: 2011 NCAA Football
For the life of me, I can't understand why these supposedly tough guys want to sashay around on national TV in what appears to be pajamas. I expect next week's big game to be Buzz Lightyear vs. My Little Pony.
At the other end of the extreme, Penn State played Alabama yesterday. Both those teams have always looked like they ordered their uniforms out of the 1968 Sears catalog. Gimme old school any day.
