I started to read the grand jury report and had to stop. SOOO many turned an eye to what this guy was doing.
I understand your point but I think catching Sanduskey in the midst of raping a 10 y.o. boy would virtually negate any position of power Sanduskey may have had. And to just walk away from it...ugh. I don't know how McQueary can live with himself either.

While the grand jury indictment is in on Sandusky, now the investigations will begin on who knew what, when they knew it, what they did, etc. It's going to get a whole lot worse before Penn State will be able to move past this.

There's a lot being written about this in the higher ed community. Penn State apparently has a history of an old boys network with lots of people who have been there a really long time, and who have developed allegiances and loyalties that have become way too dominant. Watching the press conference last night, that looked to be the case with the board too.
Penn State has a whole lot of house cleaning to do and a long long road ahead of it.
Meanwhile, I hope those victims who have lived with this for so long, can find some peace and some healing in this.

Not buying this. Every discussion I've had with ANYONE regarding this has been how the guy at THE top of the chain ie whoever knew what happened & was involved in a possible coverup is culpable. That being said, JoePa is front & center in the public eye & and from the information already presented a knowledgable party in the fact that he knew Sandusky did these evil things as well as the AD, therefore it stands to reason that removing him is the fast way to quiet things down a bit & get the public eye away from PSU. But make no mistake, WE all know many more heads are gonna roll over this.
Can't make me see this as JoePa being the fall guy AND feeling sorry for him.

Dr. Corona, I'm with you on this. I think some people are missing the crime here...we aren't taking about giving away some free sneakers or cars to players, etc. We're talking about raping children.
Cheers

What university or university system doesn't have the good ole boy network? It is a major issue nationwide.

True, but something like this tragedy just may shake the foundations of these "networks" in the future......so sad it took something this disgusting to do so.

Agree. I read this yesterday:
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootbal ... ege-sports
"Let's be clear on this. The horrific scandal at Penn State goes way beyond college sports. In fact, to put it in the athletic context trivializes what is a human tragedy for the weakest among us and a failure of leadership on a truly sickening scale.
But the fact that these criminal acts first happened -- and then continued -- within the framework of a rich and powerful college athletic department is instructive.
It sends yet another warning to college presidents and commissioners and the NCAA and perhaps the institutions of the federal government that the time is past -- in fact, it's long past -- to show some courage and get a firmer grip on the excesses of the multibillion-dollar enterprise that is college athletics.
This survival instinct is now built into the DNA of these large, wealthy, insular institutions. Had the charges against Penn State been academic fraud or improper benefits instead of child molestation by a former employee, the reaction would have been the same.
It would have been about containment. It's all about protecting a very, very, lucrative brand. "
I guess all we have to believe now is no one on the bard of trustees ever heard a whisper about this. Afraid it's going to get worse. Shouldn't the entire athletic department and football coaching staff ALL have to be fired, if you REALLY want a clean slate?

Now a wrestling coach too?
http://gma.yahoo.com/penn-state-scandal ... 20374.html
According to the grand jury presentment that led to Sandusky's arrest last week on 40 counts of molesting eight boys over a 15-year period, the coach had unfettered access to the Clinton County high school attended by Victim 1. Sandusky, who volunteered at the school's varsity football program, would often have unmonitored meetings with the boy.
On one occasion a school wrestling coach witnessed inappropriate touching between the two in a secluded weight room, according to the grand jury presentment.

And the Boise dream once again falls a little short. Great effort by TCU to rally for the W.
Kinda funny, as soon as the Frogs scored their final TD I was calling to go for the go ahead 2 pointer. Glad to see they did, and a great effort by the wide out to make the catch & break loose into the end zone.
Do feel bad for Boise as they are a helluva team & thanks to a poor pass interference call SHOULD have won the game, but this game again showed that if Boise had to play this type of competition in league play 3 or 4 times a year, it would be very difficult for them to be unbeaten year in & year out.

Spot on. Except I don't feel bad for Boise State. I laughed my ass off when I saw they lost....at home no less.

Boise had no business being talked about for the NC. I knew they were good, but not that good. Our play has diminished this year, as well as our coaching.
Wisco, had to be hard to cheer for Boise to lose this game, but then realize your really were just rooting for a the same non-AQ, weak schedule, lame conference team that wiped out Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl last year.

I'm sorry to bring up Penn State again but the following two things really disturb me
1. Sandusky's Lawyer is using the "Michael Jackson" defense for his client (I actually think it's entirely possible that Michael Jackson might have been innocent giving his proclivity for weirdness, but I cannot say the same for this guy....)
2. McCreary is now saying that he stopped the incident (but if that's the case, why did he wait a week to state this, rather than at the outset?)
I think this is going to get worse rather than better before it's all over....
