Since I didn't attend JB's show in Bristow last night, I flipped between 3 NFL pre-season games available on local cable.

With the start of the regular season coming up, almost no starters were playing in any of the games to limit the potential for injury. The overall drop off in talent behind the first string players due to salary cap limitations is quite obvious......

I think Tony Romo has poor taste in women. He went from Carrie Underwood to Jessica Simpson. Really? I'm no fan of Carrie Underwood but that's the textbook definition of trading down.

He went from Jessica Simpson to Carrie Underwood. Fandom aside, Jessica is sweet, incredibly down to earth and funny. Carrie has the personality of a wet mop when she's not reading a teleprompter. It was trading down.

Jessica is funny in a dim-witted blonde kinda way. That gets old really quick (tho keeping her occupied for hours on car trips with a piece paper that has "over" and and an arrow printed on both sides never does...

So I open this thread for the first time in a while and what do I see on the top of the page but a bust on my boys He's done well for a convict!

Ravi I did here this past week that New Engand has the highest ticket prices again this season...something like $170 to $800. Buffalo has the cheapest. I guess you don't take a family of 4 to a Pats game

A couple of days ago I was doing something I rarely do, listening to sports talk radio. Some guy called in and predicted the Lions would win 10 games and make the playoffs.

A couple of days ago I was doing something I rarely do, listening to sports talk radio. Some guy called in and predicted the Lions would win 10 games and make the playoffs.

As I have made bold predictions in the GW lot in the past, this year with the lock out I could not.

I'll do it now. Lions finish second in the NFC north and make the playoffs. Sorry Chicago, it ain't happening this year.

Preseason is over, time to get serious, I'm interested in who is thinking what for the playoffs this year and I'll revisit my question from a few weeks ago.

I did a little research and confirmed that, on average, 6 playoff teams from one season do not make the playoffs the next season. The least was 5 teams, and the most was 8 teams. It stayed pretty even as far as each conference.

With 12 teams making the playoffs every year, that's a pretty substantial turnover rate. Maybe I'll turn this into its own thread and make a poll. Who knows...

So, here are the playoff teams from last year:

AFC - New England, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Baltimore, New York Jets

NFC - Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle, New Orleans, Green Bay,


Who doesn't make it? And who does?

I'll go first...

NFC - Out - Chicago, Seattle, New Orleans In - St.Louis, Detroit, Dallas

AFC - Out - Indianapolis, Kansas City In - Houston, San Diego

I know I said 6 teams, but I can't justify any of the Dolphins, Bills, Bengals, Browns, Titans, Jaguars, Broncos, or Raiders making the playoffs so the Ravens stay in.
