What a time trial ride for Cadel. Congrats to Cadel Evans!! All that is left is the ceremonial ride into Paris tomorrow.

I'm so happy for him. He was mighty for the entire 3 weeks, going it alone a lot of the time.diverg wrote:What a time trial ride for Cadel. Congrats to Cadel Evans!! All that is left is the ceremonial ride into Paris tomorrow.
Have you been reading in the blogs about the "schooling" Contador got by the peleton this year? Seems they, too, have a long memory ...
There are a couple of blogs that have an "alternative" explanation for when Contador went shooting sideways from the peleton and ending up with his butt on the ground and it has to do with that crazy Russian Vladimir Karpets.
It was a good tour, save the horrific weather that caused so many terrible crashes, injuries and withdrawals.
Vive le Tour.
Gentilly ... 42 years is a long time to wait .... a Northeast Texas woman can hope.

I'll have to get them from history on the computer at home.

Re: 2011 Tour de France
I googled tour de france + alberto contador under the blog link ... and I did Karpets + Contador ....
But, when I do it now, the links aren't there. Do blog links change if a new blog is put up?
Sorry I can't find any more than the two below ... I think one of them was from Scotland .... and one from Canada ... but, for the life of me, I can't find them.
Here's what I did find tonight ...
http://hub.velocentric.com/karpets-push ... oton-video
and here's something else
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/tour- ... 6092003609
Am happy for Cadel ... American teams did well. Except for RadioShack. They've had such a good run, it was just a matter of time before the bad luck struck them.
I hope the officials look at two things prior to next year's tour.
1. REVIEW THE RULES about letting an injured rider continue, no matter how much the rider protests. Two words. Chris. Horner. That was just plain scary.
2. DON'T LET ANY TV CARS ON THE ROAD. It's bad enough with cameramen on the back of motorbikes. That crash was one of the most horrific I've seen at the tour.
I wish they could do something about the idiots on the road, but there aren't enough police on the planet to fix stupid like that.
Vive le Tour.

I guess you just don't get European sports fans. Or the freedoms that these cultures enjoy.East Texas Parrothead wrote: I wish they could do something about the idiots on the road, but there aren't enough police on the planet to fix stupid like that.
In most "non-stadium" sports the fans are right there. None of this nanny-state "you must stay behind the line or you will be arrested" which is usually supported by "it is a health and safety issue".
Quite rightly these supporters don't want the 'gubbermint' managing each and every moment of their lives. Imagine that, a government and legal system thinking individuals are responsible enough to look after their own safety and to assess their own risks.
Well that horse has long bolted here in Oz and in the US. One might ask, "whatever happened to the land of the free?".

Rabbitz: I have no problem with the fans being up close and personal.
What I have an issue with - and so do the riders, if you can believe what they say - are the idiots who run along side, touch, push, spit and impede their progress and make it so dangerous.
Contador punched one in the face Friday on Huez.
