Chicago NEWBIE question

Post by Gump1959 »

Hello! My husband and I are newbies. We purchased tickets a couple of years ago and had an emergency at the last minute so this will be our first Jimmy Buffett concert! In my excitement buying tickets I also bought a premium parking spot and have no idea what that is. I believe I was worried we wouldn't be able to get a parking spot so figured this would guarantee it.

A couple of questions - what is a premium parking spot and if you need to run back to your hotel are you allowed to go in and out of the parking lot?
Does it matter if it's a charcoal or gas grill?
Is any food available for purchase?

It's also our first time to Chicago - staying downtown a couple of nights and then moving to a hotel closer to the concert.

Thank you for your help!

This map will show you where VIP parking is located: http://www.toyotapark.com/events/grounds-map.aspx.

VIP parking spaces are several times larger than other spaces leaving you lots of room to set up your tailgate. There is one local parrothead who has purchased 4 or 5-trust me, he has an elaborate set-up and party--be sure to check it out!

they will allow either type of grill, and, I believe they have specific rules set up about disposing of the charcoal--check the venue website info about tailgating. There is no food for sale in the lot, but lots of overpriced food and beverages once you get in. And, once your car is in the lot, you are there for the day-I am sure they will not let your car out of the lot as all traffic lanes are directed into the lot with the exception of the limos and party busses.

Be sure to check out the Margaritaville Bar anad Grill at Navy Pier, and don't forget the Ilo/Nadirah show on Sunday at Cactus bar and Grill!

Thank you very much for the information. I think we will have a much larger area than needed as we don't have any "elaborate" tailgate plans. We are so looking forward to it!!!
