Probably at the height of the MTV Music Awards..... Was so in awe this night
Did you hear the one about me being a punk?
Did you hear the one about me being a drunk?
Did you hear the one about me losing my nerve?
Or how I'm just another f**** sheep in the herd?
Did you hear the one about me giving a s***?
Cause if I ever did I don't remember it.

To quote something hilarious I saw this moring:

"Happy 30th birthday, MTV. Too bad you didn't live to see it."

Personally, I'm an A-Ha, Take On Me kind of girl.
I knew this girl made of memories and phrases, who lived her whole life in both chapters and stages.
Danced 'til the dawn, wished all her worries away.

She's a long way from a West Nashville grand ballroom gown.

Not real sure I can define what 'kind of girl' I am, but I totally loved the 80s, loved the total cheesy-ness of much of the music and videos, it was the decade I was introduced to the music of four Irish lads that have influenced some of who/what I am today and who were initially responsible for my first and subsequent trips to Eire, both of my kids were born in that decade and funny to this day, they both have an affinity for the music from the 80s. Was just a great time, great memories all around for me. Okay, enough of that mush..  Hmm..wonder if I should go back to the mullet hairstyle...

The 80s is one of my favorite decades for music but not for a lot of what was popularized on MTV. It's more for bands like R.E.M., the Replacements, XTC, 10,000 Maniacs, Camper Van Beethoven, U2, Guadalcanal Diary, the Blasters, the Cure, Lone Justice, the Long Ryders, Los Lobos, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steve Earle, Dwight Yoakam, Lyle Lovett and Nanci Griffith.

Speaking of which, MTV's 120 Minutes is back with brand new episodes on MTV2. To watch the first new episode, click here.
