I had to hunt to find a picture of our apparently politically incorrect high school mascot, this was as close as I could get:


Apparently this newer version of Apache Joe is better. Due to a threatened lawsuit in the late 90s by Native Americans, many changes were made. Bye-bye Pow Wow, Smoke Signals, Apache Joe, Apache Princesses etc.



Our colors were maroon and gold...although they were really red, gold and white. I'm not sure I saw anything maroon while I was there.

In college I was a Pacific Tiger...colors were orange and black, of course!
This was the main mascot logo when I was there...

Next time I'm in the PHX area I am sooooo getting one of these from Scottsdale City College, home of the Fighting Artichokes!



RR, my childhood friend brought back the popularity of the Banana Slug mascot at UCSC, I'm so proud!



And of course it kills me that this school wasn't even in existence when I went off to college...cuz you know that's where I would have gone!

I know...not exactly the most menacing of mascots.
