Honestly, as I had said before, those who bought tickets for the show in Bristow and complaining that they can't tailgate, ll I am going to say is that you deserve it. The policy has always been there and wasn't enforced until now. You bought the ticket and are to agree to the policy of the venue. If you don't like it, tough s***.

I've gotta disagree. I think they have every right to complain. Several venues have policies about tailgating and alcohol consumption in the parking lot (who hasn't taken a picture under one of those signs, beer in hand) Yes, you can enjoy a Buffett concert without a tailgate (or even sober as I did earlier this year in Virginia Beach), but the tailgate and the parking lot scene is definitely part of the fun of going to a show at an outdoor venue.

If he comes back to Bristow next year and you buy a ticket, you have no reason to complain. But if you bought a ticket months in advance and they decide to enforce the policy (which is based on $$$), you can certainly complain and boycott the concessions (which I have been doing since beer hit $7 several years ago.

True, but one should have known the policy before buying the ticket. That's the point. Just because it wasn't enforced before doesn't mean it will not in the future. I think the 49'ers vs. Raiders game will cause a lot of venues to restrict these tailgating.

I can do without this condescending attitude towards my stupidity
for buying a ticket to Saturday's show with the expectations that
I would more or less enjoy the same experience that I have had in
every previous Nissan/JLL show for the past 16 years.

For 16 years and over two dozen shows, the TicketMaster/Live Nation/Venue websites
have stated things like "no alcohol" .... "no open fires or grills" .... "parking lots open at 4:00pm".

For 16 years tailgating has been allowed with reasonable and understandable enforcement
of open container laws, underage drinking and public intoxication.

For 16 years traffic has been a nightmare but the lots did in fact begin opening
shortly after 12:00 noon and thus a staggered arrival
helped in some small manner to alleviate the congestion.

Police presence was cordial and friendly, the cops shared laughs and ice water
offered to them on scorching summer days. They did their jobs when required to
stop public drunkeness, underage drinking and open containers. Other than that,
they enjoyed the festival of fun and tailgate setups almost as much us we did.

This year ..... after Live Nation accepted my money, the message of changes in
enforcement policies began to slowly trickle out. The only difference at the beginning
from any previous years was the two words "NO TAILGATING" printed on some
(but not all) hard tickets themselves. The website messages offered no indication
what exactly this meant.

Only in the weeks and months that followed
have we come to understand
that this means that
immediately upon arrival
"one" must vacate the parking lots
and be herded to the outside of the gates to await their opening.

No chairs, no grills, no canopies, no drinks, no loitering,
no visiting or waiting by your cars for other friends to arrive.
Exit immediately and go to the gates. We'll open them
at a designated time to be determined later.
"One" has only learned of this strict definition
of the two simple words
"NO TAILGATING"
well after the tickets were sold.

This policy change was not communicated until after tickets were sold.
This policy change apparently was not communicated to the artists themselves
as evidence by Kid Rock's on stage comments
and Jimmy Buffett's comments a few weeks ago.

"One" has every right to be p***ed off.
