Went to see Ilo at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett last night and I couldn't have asked for a better opening band. It was Jimmy Buffett!!! He played Changes In Latitudes, Grapefruit Juicyfruit, Weather Is Here, Pencil Thin Mustache, Son of a Sailor, Boat Drinks, Come Monday, Margaritaville and then played Uncle John's Band for "friends" of his in the audience - Bill and Hillary Clinton. Then Ilo came out and he rocked! Jimmy came back out to play Volcano with Ilo. Jimmy hung out and even came into the crowd at the end of the show and took pictures with the fans and signed autographs!!!! i was lucky enough to get my picture taken with Jimmy! What an amazing night!!!! I'll post pictures later today

Jimmy told a great story last night about how he was asked to play a surprise party for Bill Clinton when he was in office. He said whoever was planning the party had very limited money so it was "Patriotic Duty" to go and perform. Unfortunately the day of this party was the same day that Jerry Garcia passed away. He intended on playing Uncle John's Band as a tribute to start off the show. Jimmy arrived early at the White House and was given a tour around the grounds. He said he took pictures all over like he lived there and Gypsies In The Palace immediately came to mind. So he opted to open with GITP instead. So he said last night that after all these years he will now play Uncle John's Band as a tribute to Jerry and for the Clintons.

And if he had to play a Dead song, Uncle John's Band was a much better choice than Scarlet Begonias. He also said he usually doesn't open for anybody because it doesn't pay well.

Ilo told a great story about his guitar. He said they were recording in the Bahamas and Jimmy let Ilo play his guitar. He said it was a great guitar, it had a great sound and he asked Jimmy how he could get one. Jimmy told him to look on the internet to see if he could find one. I guess it was the model Martin made for Buffett because Ilo said they were sold out before they were built. They finished recording and flew back to Florida on Jimmy's plane. When they landed, a car came to pick them up and Jimmy told Ilo to look in the trunk. There was a guitar in there for him.

Awesome stories! The guitar one just gave me goosebumps!

So very cool for everyone that got to go to this show!!! I'm very jealous!! Love the stories and can't wait for pictures!!!

After the show I hung around for a while waiting to see if Ilo would come back out to sign autographs. I waited about 15-20 minutes then decided to leave. Showtime was supposed to be 7:00, I got an email 11:00 yesterday morning saying it was changed to 8:00, then the opening act (some guy with a guitar) didn't start until about 8:45. I had a 2 hour ride to get home so I didn't want to stay too late.

And Bill didnt jump up with Jimmy and play saxophone?

I was hoping we would see bill hop on stage with a sax too!

It's funny, I really wasn't planning on going, even after Jimmy mentioned it at the Jones Beach show back on the 19th and said "you never know who might show up." I didn't buy my ticket until last Thursday. It was a long night, 90 mile drive each way, but it was worth it. And with all the talk about Buffett opening the show and Bill and Hillary being in the audience, one thing seems to have been forgotten. Ilo put on a great show.

Ilo and the band were incredible! Such high energy, great sound, and they were just having a ton of fun.
