We saw Zac Brown Band at Red Rocks the last two years. Showtime was 7:30, the website said gates would open at 5:00. We hit the gates right at 5:00 and ended up in the third row of cars in the lot.Dr.Corona wrote: Okay....so if Jimmy DOES do Red Rocks......what's the skinny on tailgating there? Is there just 1 lot that feeds the entire venue? Is there any shade? Easy in & easy out of the venue? And most of all what is their alcohol tollerance policy?
There are two lots north of the venue and three on the south. No shade unless you bring it with you. There are not a lot of outhouses, but there are some bushes on the hillsides around the parking lots.
All lots exit via 3 two-lane roads that will probably have cars parked on one side. Two of those roads will put you on a two-lane county road and the other will put you on a two lane highway. Plan on taking some time to get out.
Drinking alcohol is not a problem before the show and neither is garbage. Friends of Red Rocks volunteers push trash cans through the lot collecting recyclable cans and glass bottles. Fans in the lot will see to it that anybody that makes a mess ends up in one of those trash cans.
If tailgating is your focus you will probably be disappointed, but you won't find a better concert venue.
