What's up with no California this year? Vegas, Phoenix, Colorado, Vegas and no California. Has anyone heard differently?

Nothing at all. Not San Diego, LA, SF or any of his usual stops. I guess unless you have a Margaritaville CAfe you have no chance this year. Maybe if we promise to buy the coffee

I was bummed too when I saw the Denver and Phoenix dates released.

However....as has been pointed out...California usually gets him each year where other states continue to exist in a Buffett drought. And don't forget all of the PHans in New Zealand who had their opportunity snatched away by a stage misstep!

I'm gonna just save my pennies and look forward to 2012. :D

I heard through a legal friend that Jimmy's team is upset with California promoters and won't be coming back to CA anytime soon. Did anyone notice that in JB's recent contest, everyone in the US was eligible to participate EXCEPT us Californians. Hmmm! Guess we better prepare for attending Jimmy out of State if we want to get our annual "fix".
We're NOT happy Jimmy. Forget about buying your stuff if this is the way you treat your loyal fans out West.

I scared him away from Denver for 7 years.

If that is the case. Fire the promoters and don't punish the fans. Cali people are fickle and they'll move on very quickly.

Got to agree with that (and I'm not even Californian!). You would think I would be more upset at the possibility of this, but not so much. Jimmy's not the only trop rocker out there. I haven't listened to Jimmy for the past few months now. Initially out of disappointment, but now it's not out of spite but to expand and diversify. RM has been replaced with BFR. I thought I knew most of the trop rock artists out there but there are so many more than I was ever aware of. I've been loving hearing all this new (to me) stuff that I'm now excited about music in ways I haven't been in a while.

Are Jimmy shows a lot of fun? Yes. Even in northern CA where strict tailgating bans are not a new thing. If he doesn't come out here then I just have more money to spend on other artists. I saw Changes in Latitudes this past weekend in RI and had as much fun as any Jimmy concert.

All in all and for whatever the reason, it's Jimmy's loss and my gain.

Was the contest sponsered by Landshark Lager or some other alcoholic beverage related company? If so it was probably a California Law, BPC Section 25600, and not Jimmy that made California residents ineligible to enter the contest. In an effort to protect us from ourselves California came up with the law that states “No licensee shall, directly or indirectly, give any premium, gift, or free goods in connection with the sale or distribution of any alcoholic beverage...”

Don’t you just love California? We can get Medical Marijuana for just about anything, but heaven forbid we enter a Landshark Lager contest.

Landshark Lager isn't an alcoholic beverage, it's fizzy water.

No I didn't. He actually WAS here in 1978. (As an opening act for Emmylou Harris). The local newspaper ripped him a new one for being hung over.
You're right about the other years you listed, however.

Not so much a stickler, more like being AWARE.
How else do you supposed I've been able to stay alive this long? [smilie=asa.gif]

Besides, I love telling people Jimmy Buffett has actually been to Iowa.
I enjoy it even more when someone says he hasn't been to their area for "X" number of years.
33 years and counting since he's been here.

He was SUPPOSED to preform in Cedar Rapids in 1982, but the show was cancelled due to lack of ticket sales.

I disagree. It does have alcohol in it; hence it's an alcoholic beverage by definition.

However, I do agree with the sentiment that it is to beer what squirt cheese is to cheese.
