Have you ever wanted to dine with Buffett?
We just found this in our local weekly paper. Lucy Buffett is doing a dinner and demo on the Emerald Coast. From the Walton (Fla.) Sun:
"A CONTINUING CULINARY EVENT': WaterColor presents a weekend of Southern Fare

St. Joe's WaterColor Resort will present a Southern Fare Weekend Sept. 16-18 in a celebration of what we in the South love best — good ole comfort food.
The fun weekend kicks off Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. with a four-course sit-down dinner at the resort's upscale Fish Out of Water restaurant overlooking the beautiful Gulf of Mexico.
The meal will be prepared by the restaurant's Executive Chef Wayne Alcaide and Chef de Cuisine Lawrence Klang. In preparing the evening's meal, the two chefs will use recipes from cookbooks of the weekend's guests: Lucy Buffett and Martha Foose.
Buffett and Foose will be on hand to greet attendees and will dine with them.
Buffett is the owner of LuLu's Diner in Gulf Shores, Ala., which attracts its share of tourists throughout the year. She is also the sister of well-known singer Jimmy Buffett and the author of "Crazy Sista Cooking." She offers a humorous story behind each of her dishes.
Foose is a Mississippi native who creates dishes inspired from a world of childhood memories. She is the author of "A Southerly Course" cookbook.
Ticket holders will have the opportunity to watch these two ladies in action and sample their authentic Southern fare during cooking demos on Saturday.
From 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Foose joins forces with Klang at WaterColor's BoatHouse for the first demo and tasting.
From 1:30 until 2:30 p.m., Foose and Buffett team up for a bit of storytelling while they cook and offer tastings of their Southern fare.
Then, from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m., Buffett teams up with Alcaide for a fun-filled cooking demo and tasting.
During the demos, questions from the audience will be taken and both chefs will be available to sign copies of their cookbooks, which will be available for purchase.
The informative and entertaining weekend will end Sunday morning with YOLO board lessons given at either 9 or 11 a.m. on Western Lake.
"We thought YOLOing would be a fun way to close out the weekend," said Jennifer Williams, director of sales and marketing for WaterColor Inn and Resort.
Each of the weekend's events is priced individually.
The sit-down four-course dinner is $85 per person.
The individual chefs' cooking demos and book signings are $35 each.
The session with both chefs is priced at $40, or get all three sessions for $110.
Only 45 tickets are available to sell for each culinary event.
YOLO boarding lessons are $35.
A welcome basket is available for $50 that includes one of the ladies' books. A local's package of dinner plus the cooking demos is available for $195 per person, not including tax.
For out-of-town attendees, a weekend package is available.
"We would like to start cooking sessions in the fall and want to profile great chefs from across the South," said Williams. "This weekend will kick off what we hope to be a continuing culinary event throughout the fall and winter."
Future dates are yet to be determined.
Tickets to the Southern Fare Weekend are sold at WaterColor Inn or by calling 850-534-5050 or 534-5008."
I make a mean gumbo. I hope to share some tips with Lucy.

YOLO=You Only Live Once. It's a local company down here that makes a premium line of stand up paddle boards. I believe Jimmy sports one.

Rumor has it they are actively trying to get Lulu's to open up a shop in the Ft. Walton area.

Well, upon further review, we are not able to attend. Our 'keet, Christin, and her BF are arriving the same day from Orlando for a weeks vacation with us. The beach and the FSU/OU game take precedence. I would have loved sharing some cooking tips with her. You guys have phun! BTW, we'll be at the Tail prior to the game. We'd love to see you guys.jons211 wrote:Hi Wayne! We just signed up for the 3:30 session with Lulu so hopefully we'll see you there. Which sessions are you planning to attend? Lots of rumors flying around Destin regarding the closing of The Lucky Snapper. According to recent local news coverage, Peter Bos is in negotiations with a "major player" to renovate and occupy that beautiful harbor location. We will see.Wildh2oskier wrote:Rumor has it they are actively trying to get Lulu's to open up a shop in the Ft. Walton area.

We had a great time at the demo with Lulu. It's really too bad you couldn't make it. We would have loved to hear you swap gumbo stories with her. It was much shorter than advertised, but the stories and food were well worth it! We couldn't get any good pictures, sorry.

Re: Have you ever wanted to dine with Buffett?
We are glad you got to go! The OU/FSU game didn't turn out like would have hoped for. As a make up, we are taking the 'keets to Lulu's for dinner on Friday. We'll make stops at the Florabama and Pink Pony on the way.jons211 wrote:We had a great time at the demo with Lulu. It's really too bad you couldn't make it.
