No, it sure isn't.
Florida is FLORIDA, and it's nice, but Texas is the ultimate paradise.

July was the only month we've had without snow. It was a cold, wet and dreary Summer. We don't have a sales tax in Montana and I can't get used to paying $1.0x for something with a dollar price tag. That's the only Florida negative I can see.

Wow, did not mean to start a tax debate.....

Not sure how yall are looking at or comparing property taxes here, but maybe at the tailgate in Tampa next year, we can review them. I'll gladly use mine as an example.

As for investment taxes, if you are paying those in Florida, as a Florida resident, well you need to find a new accountant.

Sales tax... had it in Rhode Island, have it here too.

We are definately glad we made the leap.....Took a lot of courage at first, but we won't ever leave now. :)

Um Garry, have you seen what's been happening in Texas this past year??? :o I'm thinking over 100 degree temps and wildfires are a little ways from my idea of paradise.

October in Texas makes up for August. You can travel anywhere in the world and say "I'm from Texas" and NOBODY ask you "Where is that?"

The Top 100 Reasons Texas Is Twice as Awesome as Your State Note: a couple of F bombs dropped in the article.

In Florida you are never more than 60 miles from a beach and I still do not go enough :(
As for taxes, hell, I don't know, just live here.

Yes, Nancy, and my heart definately goes out to them, but iths the PEOPLE of Texas who make it the paradise that it is.
I've been to over 70 countries over thepast 60 years, and I can honestly say the people of Texas are the greatest anywhere. I love Texans more than two triple cheeseburgers w/ a super-sized order of fries.
Texans are simply the best. Real, down to earth, pure Americana. That's Texas and Texans.
(Are you sure you're not from there)? :-)

One of my college friends lives there and he's considering being buried separately from his wife so he doesn't have to spend eternity there.

Michigan is very nice, Nancy.
But there are no Texans there.

It would be like going to HOOTERS and having no HOOTERS girls there.

I live and breathe Florida but I also have a fondness for Louisiana. Such nice people...
Lafayette is so cool. 8)

Can't speak to Texas as I've only been there long enough to change planes.

I like Texas...about 10 years ago I worked on a project in Austin TX and spent 1-2 weeks a month down there over a years time and came close to moving there. I loved the Austin area, but my heart belongs to the Gulf coast of Florida. I've made the comment more than once that when I'm down there staying at a hotel I feel more at home than when I'm at our house here in VT.

Well now you'd be surprised how many Texans live in Midland. Dow has a LARGE presence in both Midland and Freeport Texas. I've actually had many chances to become a Texan. Both my father and husband were offered jobs there and refused them. At one time I would swear that there were more Texans in Midland than Midlanders
