On our recent trip to Newport, RI we stopped by Katrina’s Bakery, just off Bellevue Avenue near the Tennis Hall of Fame. Their web site is http://katrinasbakery.com/Katrinas_Bakery/Home.html.

Katrina’s has great deli sandwiches, cookies, and pastries and is a “must stop” for us on our annual visits to the Newport International boat show each September. This year they had a new muffin: The Dark ‘n Stormy named after that wonderful drink that originated in Bermuda using Gosling’s Black Seal rum. Like everything else Katrina’s does, these muffins are delicious and did have the distinct flavor of the drink.

Just for fun, on September 18 I posted on Gosling’s Facebook page that Katrina’s had the new muffin: https://www.facebook.com/#!/GoslingsRum Little did I realize my comment would trigger the following.......

On September 20 I received a FB message from Tina Guldemond at Katrina’s saying that Gosling CEO Malcolm Gosling himself and his wife personally visited the bakery because of my post. So glad I could have a small, positive impact on a wonderful local Newport business. The power of social media is just amazing......

I only wish I lived closer to Katrina's.......

(But an 8 hour drive for one of those muffins is not unreasonable!!!!!!)

I really don't need to eat muffins considering I already have one around my mid section. Went to the dr.'s yesterday...oh, my!
