Well here's the answer to the traveling drink question from Todd himself...

It is asked every year, 'can we carry our drinks around with us', unfortunately this is not going to be one of those years. While New Hampshire has great prices on alcohol they have a lot of rules to go with it. So here is the 'official' statement from yours truly, you are not allowed to carry drinks in the public areas, which covers the entire lobby area. You are not allowed to carry drinks from your room to the event area and you cannot remove drinks from the event area and take it back to your room. We ask that you honor this rule because they take it very seriously.

I don't think there is anything wrong with an empty cup. You just have to drink it in a hotel room. However, I don't think you can take it to the "official sites." (that's my theory but I think it is wise to check)
