Same here, nutmeg. I've successfully resisted MySpace and Twitter, but it seems like so many things — games, contests, opinion polls, even some local advertising — are migrating to Facebook that I may have to establish a presence there just so I don't miss out on so much.

You can "follow" (subscribe) to people and groups with quiet fanfare if you like.
You can be as active or "lurker" as you wish.
Just set your privacy settings appropriately,
something that is sometimes easier said than done,
but it can be done.
