Bubba's FIRST 45...
Fins-up, all! I need some help with the history and perhaps value of Jimmy's first 45 on the Mobile label, "Abandonded on Tuesday b/w "Don't bring me Candy". I have searched all my references and online, and there are only vague descriptions. I think it was recorded around 1969 or thereabouts. Any info would be welcome.

Today, I want to say something that greatly upset me. I do sales in a import & export sales company, as I know, I had thought that we can get a year-end bonus, several days ago, I was told that due to the tight finance, we are likely to be given a small amount of bonus, how ridiculous! Who want to buy bags discount handbags? Come on!

There are two major print guides for values for vinyl records including 45's the guides are Goldmine 45 rpm guide 7th edition and the Official Price Guide for Records. Neither of these guides has a listing for Jimmy's Abandonded on Tuesday b/w "Don't bring me Candy 45. Most of his later 45's have values ranging from $3.00 to $12 depending on a number of variables. Those variables include which label eleased the 45 as Jimmy has recorded on several over the years, whether the 45 is a stock release (sold in stores), a promotional release (sent to radio stations for airplay). Also the condition of the vinyl and the sleeve it is in can effect the value as well.cenflparrot wrote:Fins-up, all! "Abandoned on Tuesday" turns up on eBay once a year or so in my experience. It usually sells for around $200, but according to Popsike.com one copy went for $600.
In my experience at least, there isn't much information out there about it. Sources don't even agree on whether or not it was officially released even in Mobile (as opposed to only getting as far as the promo stage), though it is fairly clear it was never available very far beyond there. Buffett himself evidently doesn't even know all the words anymore: it was one of the songs requested in his "Stumpo el Bando" event on the 1997 tour, and he was only able to play a few bars from the middle of the song. I did read somewhere that someone also requested "Don't Bring Me Candy" and he was able to get through that, but I've never heard that show.
