My local NFL team had an open stock share purchase option this week starting on Wednesday. Each single stock was sold for $250 and the purchaser received a single sheet of paper with the actual share having NO value, no voting privilege...nada....nothing. In less than 48 hours the club has sold 185,000 shares clearing over $43 million dollars in revenue for the team.
F'ing amazing....
The Green Bay Packer season ticket waiting list is 81,000 at the current rate of turnover the waiting time is 30 YEARS. I have co-workers who enroll their children at birth.
Cheers

RaiderNation? HA!! The Cowboys as 'America's Team'?? Don't make me laugh.
Don't get me wrong; other teams have their dedicated fans too. But on the whole, there ain't no group of fans any more rabid — but still more-or-less well-mannered; there were no riots in Wisconsin when Green Bay won its fourth Super Bowl last February — than us Cheeseheads.
And for the record, Packer stockholders — even 'souvenir-share' holders — do get certain rights and privileges. From the prospectus:

In actuality, it's no worse than a fan paying a couple hundred dollars for an "authentic" jersey with someone's name on it who, as we all know, could be playing for the team's worst rival in a couple of seasons. Instead, you're supporting the team as a whole, now and in the future."Although the Corporation is selling “common stock” and although such “common stock” carries an equal right to vote with all other shares of Common Stock, prospective purchasers should be aware that Common Stock represents a completely non-economic nvestment..."
and
"Although shareholders will not receive any economic profit or benefits, shareholders will receive an invitation to the Corporation’s annual meeting and have the opportunity to purchase exclusive shareholder merchandise."

Probably the same things a single-share stockholder would get to vote on at the annual shareholders' meeting of any other corporation — whatever the Board of Directors (or the majority stockholders) want.Hockey Mon wrote:So, I have to ask, but what are you voting on?
Of course you aren't going to change anything, but you do get the opportunity to have your say.
