Hi Phriends, This spring I am planning a trip to Siesta Key for our annual trip to "St. Somewhere we've never been before". I've gotten great help here in the past so I'm hoping for some more. We are planning on going from the 14th to 21st of April and have twin 6yro keets. Looking for a nice Beachfront place to say and any tips on adventures and resturants. That are both kid friendly and fun for the kids at heart.

Lots of places to stay on the island, ranging from somewhat expensive to very expensive.
The one Have to Do for a parrothead is plan on Tuesday evening at Captain Curts.
It is a seafood restaurant near the intersection of Midnight Pass (the main road of Siesta Key) and Stickney Point Rd.
Sunny Jim plays the backroom saloon there from 8-11 on Tuesdays, and it very fun and kid friendly environment during the first hour (watch out for flying monkeys! lol) there is a Great place for ice cream cones in that same shopping center.

Good for kids early, not so much later in the evening

You also need to visit Mote Marine Aquarium. Its great for the kids. Couple of our personal favorite restaurants are The Lobster Pot for really great seafood and a place called the Sun Garden Cafe for great breakfast / lunch offerings. The Salty Dog is also a great place. There are lots of charter trips available as well running the spectrum from fishing to sight seeing. Parasailing is available too which is really neat. You can also rent various watercraft, or just hang out at Siesta Key Beach, one of the best beaches anywhere!!

Theres an area called St. Armands Circle that you need to check out too that has some cool shops and restaurants. We like Columbia there. A bit more pricey but well worth it.

Take the drive up Gulf Boulevard through Longboat Key and Bradenton to Anna Maria Island. Another great spot. Eat at either the Beach House or Sand Bar for more great Seafood.

I second the recomendation for The Old Salty Dog restaurant. We also loved the drinks at the Daiquiri Deck!
