JIFFY LUBE LIVE REVERSES TAILGATE BAN

From Insidenova.com:
Jiffy Lube Live has reversed its short-lived ban on tailgating.

Concert-goers will once again be allowed to party in the parking lot for this summer's coming concerts. Grills and lawn chairs will be allowed. Tents, canopies and alcohol, though, are not.

Jiffy Lube Live is still selling alcoholic beverages inside the pavilion during concerts.

Since 2009, four people have died in drunken driving crashes following concerts at Jiffy Lube Live, including two teenagers in August 2009.

Jiffy Lube Live and its owner, Live Nation, implemented the tailgating ban last May, citing safety and Virginia’s law against public alcohol consumption for the change.

Fans of the outdoor ampitheater rallied against the ban, starting a "Boycott Jiffy Lube Live" Facebook page and setting up parties near the pavilion as a protest.

One of the venue's most popular performers, Jimmy Buffett, even spoke publicly about the ban, saying he'd have to think twice before committing to returning to the ampitheater.

Matt Rogers, Jiffy Lube's general manager, told the Washington Post that the decision to reverse the ban was made after listening to the venue's fans.

Rogers and representatives from Live Nation have not returned phone calls and emails from InsideNoVa.com this week.
