Down Around Biloxi

Just found out I get to spend a week at the Beau Rivage at the end of April! I'm hoping to drive to Pascagoula and Mobile one day, and then to New Orleans another day. What are the can't miss spots for day trips to those places as well as around Biloxi and Gulfport?

The drive over to New Orleans (French Quarter area) takes about an hour. Our day-trips start on the Quarter with stops at Maragritaville (afternoon), Pat O'Brien's (happy hour) and Tropical Ilse (night time). Just strolling through the Quarter is a must do. For a light dinner our favorite is the Gumbo Shop. New Orleans is a mecca for dining out, so there are plenty of choices.

While in Biloxi, check out The Shed BBQ. Great food, funky decor (bring your own to add to the walls) and a great line up of live blues tunes. http://theshedbbq.com/ocean-springs/ It's on your way to Pascagoula.

Mobile is my home town, but I only go there to see Mom and Dad. Great seafood on the Causeway near the USS Alabama at Felix's.

Have phun!

We like Treasure Bay Casino...small and cheaper, but very nice decor.

We also like the White Cap Cafe...great stuffed shrimp and cole slaw.

Drive the causeway over to Bay St Louis instead of the freeway toward N.O.

Eat at Mothers near the Harrah's Casino. Haven't been to Camillia Grille on Carrollton since before Katrina, but it was always a great little diner for breakfast or lunch.

Find the Dew Drop Inn in Mobile. It's a Jimmy "thing." Drive across the causeway to Daphne, Fairhope, down 98 Alt....toward Point Clear. It's a great way to see Mobile Bay. We went to Fly Creek Cafe and enjoyed that one evening. Also went to Manci's Antique Club for lunch and drinks...and enjoyed the folks there.

I guess everyone has their own reasons for wanting to see stuff and mine are usually Jimmy related.

will second The Dew Drop Inn, easy to find but avoid the lunch rush if you want to get a seat without a 30 min. wait.

Also make the run thru the Battleship Park.
