Losing a pet is always hard. But I always try to remind my self that I gave each animal a life they may have never known. And they give their unconditional love back all those years to me......I think that's a pretty fair trade-off.
God Bless.....and my may your memories of that beautiful canine face remain etched in your mind forever.

Thanks guys!
It was the hardest thing I have had to do. I held him while scratching "his spot" and talked to him, and thanked him while kissing his nose, as he breathed his last breath into my face. I will miss him dearly. We will be scattering his ashes on his, uh, "Poop Tree" this weekend in our park.
I am going to get that book today, I need all the help I can get.
Thanks again for letting me vent.

Sorry to hear of your loss. It's so hard, but as others had mentioned, I'm sure he was a happy guy with all the love and care you gave him.

What a fantastic parting.
We should all be so lucky to depart this plane under such loving and tender circumstances.
As far as the ashes, that's pretty funny.....I'm sure he will appreciate the irony and the implied convenience!
