The Knob and Jimmy are both booked for all the other dates in that time frame right now. If its not the 26th then it would have to be near Cincy's August date.
I'll take anything at this point! Feeling that we might get left off this year?

yeah and I hate ps&e's policy of only announcing one "big" show a week. It will be at least till next sunday now, but with the rumor of the casino show on the 26th , things not looking good.

The Doobie Brothers and Chicago are scheduled for August 1, 2012 according to both of their websites but DTE has not posted the concert yet. I think there is something strange going on at DTE. Hopefully they see the light.

Tuesdays, thursdays, and saturdays. That date means nothing to us, and shows always pop up on artists websites and pollstar before they go up on DTE. They only put up a couple of shows a week to get the most attention for sales for that show.
If rumors come out for August 4th, 7th,or 9th, and it doesnt say Pine Knob then we are screwed this year.
Edit: I took the 11th out of the picture because BNL is at Pine Knob that day. So we have a shot at one Saturday , one tuesday or one thursday show at this point.
My bet is the 7th or nothing this year.

I've "heard it through the grapevine" they're working on it.......but it's far from a done deal. It's not really in JB's hands at this point. Don't give up the ship just yet.

Parrots and Phans..... Please do not exclude that fact that there is another player in the business. Former Palace Exec, Tom Wilson is now Downtown with OEI. Strong rumors are the show might be headed downtown in the D !!!

This would be disappointing. I know Chesney has done his big shows downtown at Ford field for a few years now, but the convenience of Pine Knob's lot having that "all for 1, 1 for all" grilling & chilling ambience can in NO WAY be duplicated downtown.
If anyone cares to share their Chesney experiences downtown feel free. Can't imagine it would be more than a get their...hang around your car for an hour or so with a pop or 2....or maybe throw some change away at Chelli's...Hockeytown...or Elwoods....then head inside & keep the concessioners rolling.
Not my idea of the Buffett experience. I for one would have to really think on this one before seeing him at Comerica (or Ford Field).

As some on this board know, I was in on the Kenny wagon before it was a band version. I was telling people to watch out for KC. One of the best shows I ever saw was KC at Pine Knob, I was the only person there with beads or a grass skirt. The show would not have been the same inside because it was blazing hot then started pouring rain. The rain was welcomed and the show turned into a woodstock vibe. It was so much fun. Then the next year he exploded and the shows moved to the Joe, and then to Ford Field.
I went to the show at the Joe and it was a good time but there is no tailgating by the Joe, we hung out most of the day at Hockeytown. As the show time approached we went to the JOe and illegally tailgated there for a hour before the garage police shut us down.
I have only been to the first Ford Field show, I would not go back to any concert at Ford Field. It has no atmosphere for a concert, very bland and the sound is barely a upgrade from the Silverdome which has to be the worst venue ever anywhere for a concert. You could be 100 feet back from the stage center at the silverdome and you wouldn't hear anything from the speakers, then move ten feet and it would be obnoxiously loud and muffled. I have chosen to not attend any KC shows at FF since the 1st because they price was not worth it and the venue is made for football and that's it.
The tailgating around Ford Field and Comerica is there and isn't that bad. However the tailgating lots are isolated and segregated from each other. You really have to be able to make your own tailgate. You have about 20 cars to a lot and then the next lot will be a block away. It can be fun but it can not be compared to the one large grounds to tailgate on at Pine Knob.
For the Kenny Shows the radio stations and bars go all out to get people to come "hang out" at their place. This is a decent time but its not the same as tailgating. I enjoy the bars down there but often at big games or shows if you choose that route you will be stuck waiting in lines to get in. You cant just bar hop around the bars are to small and fill up quickly.
If Jimmy played a show at Ford Field I might go down and tailgate some and hit up a bar but I would probably not buy a ticket. If he played Comerica I would go and give it a shot. Neither option is better than Pine Knob but Comerica is better than nothing. A comerica show would really challenge most parrotheads around here to step up their game if they wanted the same tailgating/pre-party vibe that Pine Knob provides. It could be fun but people would have to really change their expectations for a "D" tailgate. There really would be no "walking around" checking out other tailgates. It would be you and a few "neighbors" and you'd better hope for some good PH's to park by.
I think a Comerica show could work and would definately by worth giving a go to see how well it went one time. I believe the bars would try hard to put on some good entertainment but it would cost you some good money for those 8 dollar beers at the beer tent.
Anyone else care to chime in about your KC in the D experience?
