For anyone who doesn't know, the Michigan Brewer's Guild Summer Beer Festival is also this weekend. Last year I think they had 500 beers there, and it is a fantastic time! It's $35 or $40pp (there's a Friday and a Saturday session), and you get 15 sample tokens (which honestly, really is plenty- we all tried everything we wanted to and ended up with glasses of our favorite at the end, and we only had 5 in our group).

Well I have been looking at various opinions so far about the show. I even ventured to the land of misfit parrotheads. Couldnt believe the screennames I saw again over there. haha I thought those people died.

So on to my summary. Most seem glad that we just have a show. I would say about 50% are p*** that its not at Pine Knob. I believe most of those 50% that are angry are the older generation of parrotheads and those from outside the Metro Detroit area. You could say its the people who are afraid of the "D" and the "city". (cue up Jimmy singing "the city")

Of the 50% who are not angry, again I would say that is broken into two groups. Those with no complaints yet and those who are happy but are scared the tailgating will s*** or the sound will s***.

I can help those as the time gets closer with the tailgating issues. The sound well lets just hope its good. Remember , the Tigers just upgraded their scoreboard and sound system this year.

Saw Springsteen at Comerica. Sat within the first 6 rows of the stage, although quite a ways off to 1 side. Did not think the sound was good.....and while Bruce is usually great about getting out to the corners of the stage I was disappointd with the amount of "face" time we got.
I CAN'T imagine what the view from behind home plate or along the base lines will be...although seeing a few shows at the Dome (silver) I would anticipate that you'll be spending most of your time watching the video screens rather than enjoying your "real" view.
Tailgating scene will drop down a few notches. While Eastern Market would be a GREAT setup for Parrothead Nation to Rock...it's a lonnnnng haul to Comerica by foot from there.
And my idea of pre-show tailgating is not hanging at HockeyTown or stopping by Greektown Casino for a little Slot Machine noise. I know there are some "cool" places to park downtown, but you'll be a bit isolated from the masses of Parrotheads. No more strolling past Motorhome Row or up & down the rows in order to search out some old familiar faces. In order to catch up with as many BN'ers as possible pre-show........this 1 will take MUCHO organizing.
Not here complaining.....& I'm probably 60/40 on going.....
just stating the facts as I see em.

Just adding my $0.02. I'm from the U.P. and jacked that it's @ Comerica. I love the D, always have, and I am looking forward to a great time tailgating in my typical parking spot for Lion games. We're off of the Lafayette exit, hang a left, another left, and in your vacant lot to the right. I still believe Brush Street will turn into an impressive street party as well. Believe me, CoPa knows what Buffett will bring and they'll find ways to accommodate!

Eastern Market is not only a long haul, but the Farmer's Market is there on Saturdays. It's still packed at 2 at that point in the summer, so we'll have no room to tailgate.

Chance to put 30,000+ in the stadium...or 15,000+ in a amphitheatre.........you make the call!
Food for thought.........so does Jimmy come out & say "Welcome To Tiger Stadium"???

That would be high-larious. :D

Ive been thinking.......every "special" Buffett show has had special guests. Jake at wrigley, along with the "special covers". The number of guests at Anguila and Hawaii. Of course there was also that Triple Headliner show with Alan and George in Texas.

Who do you think will show up?? What songs do we get? I'm gonna have to bump my "turning around " thread again even though some dude tried to steal that thunder earlier this year.

Bret Michaels appearance again? lol Zac you would think would be a candidate since his tour dates are very scattered at this point. If Zac is there "you know who" will probably be backstaged walking around with Cheli. A canadian guest maybe??

Definitely not happy about it being at CoPa, BUT I'll be there. I'm betting there will be no more $35 tickets. And it's going to really really s*** not enjoying the concert with my group of phriends. Half of my phriends won't go because you know tickets will be minimum $100. And not sure how we're supposed to get 20 seats all together like the lawn at the Knob. I will stand with one friend on either side of me and watch the video screen. The audio will more than likely be horrible. There has yet to be a show there that had even decent audio. Bruce, McCartney, Kid Rock, Stones, Dave Matthews, all stunk. I was at Tigers opening day and the audio was horrible for that. The national anthem sounded like it was coming out of a megaphone. As you can see I'm not happy, but I refuse to miss a show.

Why is it still listed as a rumor?
Does that mean there is still a small glimmer of hope [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

Hanging out on the oasis in the 100 degree F temp last summer was so much fun.
If I had to miss it this year because it was scheduled for a late Sat in July when I will be elsewhere I would be upset.
But at Comerica Park?
Snow P, you can still camp here if you wish, but better yet come a bit further west to KOSH instead w/ Laura!

I don't see it happening for us either. That is the day we are supposed to leave for BC for 10 days ........ love to be with my phriends, but do not feel bad that I am missing that venue.
Broke my streak of 7 years in a row at a Detroit show [smilie=crying.gif]
