I don't see Jimmy Buffett not coming back to Cincinnati. He has always been a sell out here. He could preform 3 shows here and they would all be a sell out. Also, Parrot Heads started in the Cincinnati area at Timber Wolf in Kings Island many years ago. The reason they do not have any weekend shows in Cincinnati, it would over run Coney Island area with thousands of tailgaters. Buffett is like the (terminator), he said last year at the end of his concert. (I'll be back) Fins Up.

I expect to hear something this week about tour dates . I still see lots of Tuesdays open in the summer at River Bend Music. Jimmy has not done a weekend show in over 10 years. I sure wish Jimmy would preform a Saturday in Cincinnati. Fins Up.

From Pollstar: Riverbend 1st venue in the country to offer lawn people fake grass.......
Fake Grass At Riverbend
Concert fans opting for lawn seats at Cincinnati’s Riverbend Music Festival will be in for a new experience this summer. The venue is the first amphitheatre in the country to install a synthetic concert lawn.
Costing $750,000 and taking 16 weeks to complete, the synthetic lawn was made possible via the Patricia and J. Ralph Corbett Riverbend Endowment established for the continued improvement of the venue.
The benefits of having a synthetic lawn range from venue workers and concert fans not having to deal with mud after a rainstorm to reducing Riverbend’s carbon footprint, mainly because workers no longer have to water or fertilize the area. The synthetic lawn fabric, backing and fibers are 100 percent recyclable.
The fake grass will get the reality test when the Riverbend Music Center launches its 2012 season with Brad Paisley May 20. To commemorate the synthetic lawn, Riverbend will give the first 1,000 attendees a free lawn chair to use throughout the season.

wonder how the fake grass will look after hundreds, make that thousands, of folks get done puking all over it?
They better have a good commercial carpet cleaner.
Hopefully Jimmy will give us a good concert date this year. We have had 2 horrible dates in a row the past 2 years.
Throw us a good one this year!

That's kinda funny, but a good idea. One show during a storm pretty much wipes out the lawn for the season at any venue. I would think they don't need to do anymore than hose it down to clean it. But it's going to get hot hot hot in the summer sun.
With a bad knee, maybe I shouldn't schedule more than two consecutive concerts on artificial turf before taking a day off.

I am happy about hearing the newly installed artificial grass. I sustain bruised ribs about 8 years ago in the lawn section. I was walking down the hill side out of the lawn section, making my way to the restroom. My feet kicked out from under me, on the muddy hillside. I landed on my right ribs. I could not get up off the ground for 30 seconds. It knocked the wind out of me. 10 Drunken dumb asses started cheering at my demise. Bruised ribs for 7 days.

We have artificial turf on our high school football field. You really right about it holding the heat. I see loads of kids with wicked "turf burn" in the school clinic too. We pay to have it treated (every 3 years I think) with an anti-bacterial spray because of the high incidence of infections with artificial turf. I can only guess (and hope) that this lawn is cleaned well and often.
I know the area takes a huge beating and can be a huge mess in the rain........but I like grass.......

I believe I'll take it over the mud. A few years back, after a big storm, it didn't seem too bad when I went early to get center stage. Then all the kids who never listen to the music, get drunk and show how cool they are, pushed their way in all around the blanket, spilled drinks, got obnoxious, everybody's on the phone, and pretty soon it was a muddy slippery mess. I don't mind that kids get into the Buffett party thing, but gheesh, at least pretend you are listening to the freakin' songs. Oops, showing my age.

Astro turf for a concert venue????? That is the worst idea ever. First the first rock show that stuff will get torn up and thrown. Second, instead of getting dirty , people will now have Turf Toe, carpet burns, and blown out knees from one leg slipping and the other staying put.(on mud both would slide out)

Maybe they'll pull the tarp out and we'll have a rain delay?
Actually, I don't think it would be any more slippery than real grass or mud. And if you look at the slope at Riverbend, it's a lot less severe than many other venues.
I'm waiting for the first amphitheater with a retractable roof, that would be sweet indeed.
