Jimmy's guitar

Post by rmissbrook »

Is this a new guitar for Jimmy or just one he has not used for a while. He has the "Fins" strap on in this picture. But it looks like the same guitar with the "Tiki" strap on in San Jose.

Yeah, I could see the Hank's Seafood restaurant Bing & Bong talked about during preshow interview.

Not knowing much about guitars, I'd imagine that Jimmy's is a custom made, but here is the

American Vintage '69 Telecaster Thinline also:

I'm sure you are right and this is the model guitar. But it is not the one he has been using the past couple of years. It must be a Fender also, but it is a lighter wood. As always, inquiring minds (mine) want to know. And I can always depend on Nancy to have the answer. I'm sure Jimmy must have a ton of guitars and it is nice to know that he rotates them occasionally.

And yet a different Fender for the Still Here Tour in 2008

From the Action Guitar Strap photos:

And one for SummerzCool 2009

I'm sure over the years Jimmy has kept a journal about all his favorite guitars. Can you imagine how different ones he's played?!?

Thanks, Kay, for the great diversion today.

The guitar in the first image certainly is not new. If you look at the fret board under strings 1 & 2 between to 6th and 10th frets you will see that the thing has seen its fair share of work. (as it should be for a '69 Tele).

Looking at the frets overall they look quite tall so may have been replaced at some point.

As a guitar tech it makes me smile to see a well used classic guitar that is clearly well looked after...
