Or not...

According to The Daily, these are among the stores that say they do not sell meat with pink slime:

* A&P
* Whole Foods
* Costco
* Publix
* H-E-B
* Waldbaum’s
* Price Chopper

These are among the stores that do not sell pink slime in store-ground meat, but sell pre-packaged ground beef from suppliers that may contain pink slime:

* Jewel-Osco
* Kroger
* Food Lion
* Winco
* Fred Meyer

These are among the stores that sell store-ground meat with pink slime, according to The Daily:

* Target
* BJ’s
* Hy-Vee
* Safeway
* Walmart
* Albertsons
* Stop & Shop
* Zaycon Foods

So I'll be buying my Ground Beef from Fred Meyer and only the "in store" stuff.
Need to find out where Top Foods fits in here too.

Not sure I like reading "most" in this statement from my store:
We want our customers to know that most types of fresh ground beef that Meijer sells do not have lean finely textured beef as an ingredient.

Geez...it looks like we will either have to drive farther to HEB or continue to buy Kroger and hope there isn't much slime in their HB.
:evil:

This is why I only buy local grass fed beef from farms I can go SEE in person if I want to. Besides, I read somewhere that that the use of that stuff is now prohibited?

Not at all. I think some communities have banned it's use in schools but that's it.

Not all of us live in such a rural area and have that luxury! [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

And no, it's not prohibited, which is the whole problem. This just grosses me Out!

I know, I'm really lucky - and it's a LOT more expensive so not suitable for anyone with a family. So if I move to Newburyport (applied for that job today) I can't get organic beef??? :o :D

Such a great walking around town...loads of nice restaurants and bars. And of course Plum Island for the beach.

When will you find out?

Oh I just applied online for it today. It's with Brookline Bank, the CEO is my old boss from where I work now - I hope they ask his opinion.

Is your mom okay with you moving away?

It's only an hour further than I am now and it's mostly I-89 which is easy. I don't think she'd want to drive it to come visit but this job has lots of flexibility so I could always go get her for visits. It would be an adjustment though.

You know that if you take pure pink slime and bring it to a boil you can drink it with a straw. Its basically an amonia/meat shake!!

Hmmmmmm I wonder how it would be in a frozen concoction maker? [smilie=asa.gif]
