Ok, kids... just got off the phone with the Director of Marketing for the Tinley Park Holiday Inn...
Suffice to say they are *Very Excited* about hosting this event. [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]
They are kicking it off at 9am. The main "tailgate" area/stage will be in the rear of their property on the lake. There are 3 bands booked, one of which is Gone To Paradise, as well as a DJ.
There will be a "cover" charge of $25 which will include 2 beers or 1 mixed drink and a hotdog or cheeseburger. Of course, food and beverages will be for sale as well.

They believe they will have Corona and/or Bacardi as a sponsor(s).

There will be a section for RV's and they are welcomed.....

I will have a layout of the parking lot area as well as their flyer/formal announcement shortly and I will post these for your viewing pleasure! [smilie=nod.gif]

???

Weird... they've never charged before, except for food and beverage purchases. It was always just like regular tailgating.

What's the story on obstructed seating low in the pavillion at Tinley?
Is it really that bad....or just a minior inconvenience?

If way up front, it is probably speakers blocking your view. Otherwise, depending on where you are, there are support beams in the pavillion, and they definitely block things ).

Staying at a hotel in Joliet, but I'll be able to take you from your hotel to the arena. You're not too far from where the tailgate will be.

Just an FYI! [smilie=coolup.gif]

There were ads for the June 30th show in today's and yesterday's Sun Times that said:

**** TAILGATERS WELCOME! ****
Parking Lots Open For Tailgating At 2PM

given that, from the venue, I wonder if the Holiday Inn will rethink their charges at all?

Great news!! I am bringing peeps that are expecting to see some tailgate fun and I was a little concerned about the "condensed version of tailgate fun." Ha
Now if I can just get this group to get it together to get going early. We will have about a 2 hour drive.

$25 for the Holiday Inn!? Thats just odd.

If Im too early we'll park at Target and turn up the radios.

The Parrot Dice Lounge will be in the lot . . . by 2pm if not earlier. :) We will have a Music, a Prize Wheel, Jello Shots, and lord knows what else as we exploit the rookie tailgaters. No traditional Parrot Dice Lounge set up like Toyota Park allowed since there is the "hit and miss" of the Tinley Park experience which can impact any and all of it. Trying to figure out how to transport a stage of some kind. We always have a good time and don't expect any less this year either.

Just to insure my "Fun" for Buffett in 2012 we are booking the Vegas trip. Not sure we will even go to the show but the party is one never to be missed.

The pholks at the Holiday Inn are requesting some input... given the "rattlings" about what they're charging. They've upped the ante to include 4 beers or 2 mixed drinks.
What suggestions might y'all have for them? No charge? Just a place for everyone to hang out early, if they so desire? With food & beverage available for purchase? They're really interested in hearing what the masses have to say! [smilie=nod.gif]

How bout no charge for booze or admission, if they wanna charge for food---let them charge whatever they want. BYOB is always the best bet.

I seem to remember from being there once before that entrance to the area was free, and you could buy tickets for drinks, burgers, etc. That really seems to make a lot of sense. I also seem to remember a long, long walk into the hotel to find a bathroom, and a very long wait. Perhaps a porta potty or two in the lot would be helpful.
