Re: Who's going to Chicago .. June 30th, 2012
Since the Holiday Inn festivities have been canceled, are there any other pretailgate gatherings planned?
We are staying @ the Country Inn & Suites in Matteson and would very much like to start our day around 8 or 9 instead of 2 or 3....we may end up doing it in our parking lot if nothing else

If anyone has an extra hotel room near Tinley that they aren't going to use, let me know. Tinley is by far one of my least favorite venues, but would love to see Bubba perform a few more times before he "retires".

Hey Chicago Phans.....PA Parrot & I will be bringing Duckett with us to Pittsburgh. Is anyone from this Chicago group going to be at the Pittsburgh show and want to take Duckett on the next leg of his Lagoon Lounging summer vacation?

Will be hitting my 3rd JB show of the year (L'ville, Des Moines) at TP and attending with my wife, and 2 of my sisters. Looking to possibly hook up with some BNers in the lot and combining tailgates.
Just curious how many BNers are planning an organized get together?

Hey there! I am taking the Amtrack from Pitts to Chicago on Friday night. Train leaves Pitts at 1159pm and arrives in Chicago around 0900. We were going to walk to the Navy pier from Chicago union station and hit Margaritaville for lunch before trying to find our way to Tinly park... We are staying at the LaQuinta. Any and all are welcome to join us! I rented a car in Pitt, but not in Chicago.Wino you know wrote:Kate (irishfiregirl) will be at both shows. Take the ROCK ISLAND from LASALLE STREET STATION to Tinley Park. 2 stops for Tinley Park, Get off at the 80th ave stop. Call a taxi ahead of time, because out in the burbs, 99.9% of the people drive everywhere.

We had talked about trying to make it to Navy Pier but doesn't look like that will happen for us. We are at LaQuinta too.irshfiregrl wrote:Hey there! Re: Who's going to Chicago .. June 30th, 2012
So- earlier (in April) I contacted the Holiday Inn about the whole "pre-tailgate" thing they were doing. I had an ongoing email "discussion" with their Director of Marketing who seemed like a genuinely nice guy... and interested in what the "pholks" were saying.
This is the last email I sent him, which was the end of April:
Hi Dan-
Any other updates on your bash? I've been "hearing" some comments
from the masses...concerned about an entrance fee being charged...
I think everyone is going from past experience, where it was "Come one, come all...." and
purchases were just of food & beverage.
In fact, this is a blurb from someone the other day on one of the blogs:
"Print ad in today's newspaper saying: Tailgaters Welcome... lots will
open at 2pm...
Given that, from the venue, I wonder if the Holiday Inn will rethink
their charges at all?"
Response: "I hope so!"
Then he replied:
Cindy-
I would love to hear your thoughts on this, please feel free to call me tomorrow!
Never heard back from him...after leaving a couple of messages.
So, here we are, less than two weeks from the concert date, and I see the post made by spark26981 with the message from the Guest Service Manager saying that the event had been cancelled! Needless to say, I was more than a bit surprised. Never did the marketing guy even have the courtesy to let me know this (or I certainly would have passed that info on)...
I sent him this message 2 days ago:
"Just heard through the grapevine that your event was cancelled! I'm a bit shocked that I never heard back from you regarding this...
And HIS response:
"really!!!!!!!!!!!! we cancelled based on some of you correspondence
so thanks for that........................"
EXCUSE ME? WTF????![hate [smilie=hate.gif]](./images/smilies/hate.gif)

Re: Who's going to Chicago .. June 30th, 2012
Well, that's a real professional response! The charge was just too much. Most of us are already shelling out big money for a less than 24 hour event just to have them charge $25 for entry. The cancellation of the event probably saved them a bunch of money as there wouldn't have been a good turnout anyway. They should have thanked you!!bufitonmybmw wrote:So- earlier (in April) I contacted the Holiday Inn about the whole "pre-tailgate" thing they were doing. Wow, how unprofessional of that guy from Holiday Inn. We have yet to decide where we are heading for pre-tailgate festivities. We will for sure be ready for the parking lot as soon as that opens.
