Happy Buffett week, Chicago! If you are looking for something on Friday night, The Boat Drunks kick it off then at Navy Pier for a huge parrothead party at the Landshark Beer Garden...8:30p kickoff. Sea u there! Never know who might show up...

Looks like Navy Pier may be the place to be on Friday, June 29. I notice that Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band is up at the CBIP in Middleton, WI and Mr. Myers is playing at the Starved Rock lounge in Utica (great little bar and an awesome view, but pretty far out of the way).

Any other events around the area? MIL has the keets for the weekend and I've got a License to Chill...

I'm bringing a lawn chair and a cooler. I'll either tailgate by myself on the side of a road somewhere (wouldn't be the 1st time), or with the rest of the wallflowers that are going if they want to meet up somewhere. Either way, I'm in.

Hope so! I wondered if the Holiday Inn would still be the staging area, with or without their organized festivities. I have a group meeting for lunch in Oak Lawn at 11am, then to the HI to check in.

Waiting to hear what the plans are (and no, I am not coordinating things)--the heat, and the rocks in the parking lot may keep me from showing up really early, but it depends on what the plans are.......

Can someone please give me the details of where we should be Friday night and Saturday morning or afternoon?

As usual, we can bring some snacks, (chips, dips, fruits and veg). Is Candyman coming this year?

At this point, we are about 90% sure we are coming. Still looking for some great seats, but got a free room close to the venue thanks to my reward points.

We REALLY, REALLY, REALLY need a vacation, but every time we come to Chicago, it's a 1000 degrees!! Oh, well. I would rather be hot and miserable with you guys than some randoms at a different show.

I think the sudden change of heart by the folks running the Holiday Inn took the wind out of the sails of a lot of the people going, and apparently has most everyone going pretty discouraged. However, we ARE parrotheads, and, as such, are a hearty bunch and can make our own fun. No matter if it's just at a bar somewhere, or in the back of a 7-Eleven, or wherever. Sh*t happens, but it doesn't have to ruin our day. (My day WILL NOT be ruined, no matter how hard outside forces try to make that happen). So we'll just decide what we want to do and where we want to do it, and then we'll DO it. That's all. Pretty easy.

Sounds like we'll be @ Navy Pier Friday night, then bright and early @ the Odyssey Sports Bar & Grill (across the street from First Midwest entrance) so we can party right up until the gates officially open....see ya there!

Not gonna be able to get into the main entrance from Odyssey. If you go there, you will be on RIDGELAND, and that entrance puts you behind the lawn, far away from everyone, and one hell of a LONG walk to the front of the venue.

I was thinking that we could probably meet at the shopping center across the street and caravan over after the gates open... But I'm open for anything...

Is it on the other side of Harlem? I think that may make more sense than the HI because it is closer and we have less chance of getting separated.

We weren't planning on walking from Odyssey to the venue, rather spending our nornormal 9a-2p tailgating time there until the venue is available. I simply cannot handle the idea of only a 6 hr tailgate when we normally have 11.

You won't be able to get to the main lot from Odyssey. TP Cops are jags

Unless you mean odyssey fun world...that's off Harlem on the road into the venue (oak park ave)

Don't know what time we will make it down by, but we'll try and find y'all once we get there.
