Todd Snider Announces Jerry Jeff Walker Tribute Album Time As We Know It
Twenty years ago Jerry Jeff Walker, the country singer most famous for writing the song “Mr. Bojangles,” inspired a 19-year old Todd Snider to become a musician. Today, Snider is paying back his appreciation with tribute album Time As We Know It: The Songs Of Jerry Jeff Walker.
“I’ve always hoped I’d stay around long enough to get to make a record of Jerry Jeff Walker songs,” Snider said in a press release. “He’s the guy I saw at 19 and decided to try to be like. His are the first songs I learned.”
The album, which was produced by Don Was (Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones), is set for an April 24 release. The 14 tracks feature admirers and friends of Walker that include Amy LaVere, Elizabeth Cook and Kix Brooks. The release follows Snider’s recent album Agnostic Hymns & Stoner Fables.
Watch Snider and Walker sing Snider’s “Alright Guy” live at Walker’s 65th birthday bash.

Re: Todd Snider Announces JJW Tribute Album Time Aa We Know It
There is also a Bootleg floating around out there called "Todd Sings Jerry Jeff". It is a studio recording that Todd recorded some years ago with friends from East Nashville. It is very good & has a completely different track listing. Todd never released it commercially but he did share it with fans and friends & said to share. It's something worth checking out if you are a Todd Snider/Jerry Jeff Walker fan.

I posted about the new Jerry Jeff covers record in another thread but Todd also has a Kris Kristofferson tribute out that he made available to fans in recent years. In other words, it was through his listserv so it's not like it's something people can find it stores.

Re: Todd Snider Announces JJW Tribute Album Time As We Know It
I saw Todd Snider last night in CC. He was "ok" and only played for about an hour. He didn't play any of his older stuff from "The Nervous Wrecks" days except for "Alright Guy.". He did play some stuff off his tribute album, and his last two as well.
The last time I saw him, he was too stoned to play more than 3 songs, so I guess last night is a vast improvement.

Don't try to describe the ocean if you've never seen it.
