That's funny right there, I don't care who you are.
It is funny. But I don't think Jimmy has anything to worry about from KC or Matt Hoagie or anyone else for that matter.
Nothing to worry about.....but what a favor to the non-KC loving community....

Agree. There were other ways for Jimmy to show his love for his Saints than that shirt. :-?
I'm disappointed. :(

So you are ok with putting a bounty on a players head to hurt him enough to take him out of the game or even worse, end his career? Really Mark?

The Saints got singled out and they were not the only team. Tony Dungy stated that he knew Greg Wiiliams had a bounty system in place back in 2000. This is all about the NFL worried about a lawsuit. Football is tough brutal sport. What's funny to me is everybody wants to say Jimmy Buffett is bad for what he did!! Guess what?! I don't give a crap what you or anybody else thinks and I am pretty Jimmy and all the Who Dat don't either!! I like Sean Payton and I like the Saints

Sean is tight with Kenny also
Hmmm, maybe I didn't put the punctuation correctly. When I said "he", as in "he has a bounty for a career ending injury on Kenny Chesney" I meant Jimmy, not Sean.

Of course, what I really meant by all of it was a joke. You know, "Hey, isn't this a funny way to address this situation?" Poke fun at it. Maybe what they call satire. Just really humor. As in I don't think Jimmy wants any football players injured, and doesn't endorse such a thing.

But you're right. Maybe he doesn't care. Or even better, maybe he does. maybe he's finding a way to write a new song that has just the right sonic profile to rupture ACL's. Maybe he'll call the song "I like the Saints, and you're all poop" and have it played 13 times a game (15 if it goes to extra innings.) In fact, maybe he's calling the new tour "Lounging by the Lagoon" because he expects every major NFLer not a Saint to have free time lounging around recuperating. How great would that be? All those famous players from other teams wearing tropical shirts and drinking Mai Tai's on the side lines? While it'd be like the pro bowl for all 18 weeks of the season. How awesome!!

Or, I could have included the four [smilie=sillyjester.gif] to show it was a joke. Guessing particular Saint fans didn't find it funny. But that's okay. I'm used to things in the NFL not being funny. I'm a Cowboys fan.

Maybe he did back then , but , we are in a different era where they are trying to cut down on injuries , They got caught , Football is Brutal , but , if you listen to every football so called expert ,or sports talk shows, Payton got what he deserved , if you have to knock out opposing players to win , your not as good a team as you think you are , How does Brees feel hearing this. You're jeopardizing your players for the same treatment. I do Like Payton , since he was a Giants assistant , i like the Saints because they are fun to watch, and felt bad for them when they were the Aint's. But , he got caught and has to pay for it. I just thought the shirt was in poor taste as a NFL fan.....he should be wearing Save The Miami Dolphins.....or save the Fans ( Miami Fans ) like me. And , he has ties to them as a season ticket holder.

I don't support Jimmy wearing the shirt, not because I'm a pansy but because it was bush league, thuggish behavior.

Hey why not? I still think Kenny was behind Jimmy's fall in Australia.

[nods] I have to agree.

After hearing excerpts from the audio yesterday, in which Williams pretty much said "break this guy's neck and I'll take care of you," I would say that Mr. Williams is likely toast, deservedly so. Certainly done in the NFL, and I can't say criminal charges would be out of line. I mean, we're talking Mafioso-speak here.

That said, I'll admit I haven't been following this closely, and so I don't know the possible answer(s) to the crucial questions: What did Mr. Payton know, and when did he know it? Apparently he *did* try to cover it up. Which worked *so* well for the likes of Nixon and Haldeman, back in the day.

In any case...yes, I think the shirt was in bad taste, regardless of what Mr. Payton knew and/or did, and I am a bit less thrilled with Mr. Buffett as a result of it.

Sigh.

...and speaking of "poor taste:"

Breaking bones and pain in Paytonitaville
Searching for my next case of assault
My lawyers claim that the system's to blame
I'm just sayin' that it ain't my fault

HEY CLEARLAKE!!!!

All suspensions upheld. How you feel now about your thugs and lawbreakers??

And if you notice this time, there is no [smilie=sillyjester.gif] [smilie=sillyjester.gif] [smilie=sillyjester.gif] [smilie=sillyjester.gif] after what I post. Cause I'm not trying to be funny now.

I'd love to hear you intelligently defend the process of paying someone to cripple someone else.
