It's going to look totally different this year. All the flowers have ALREADY bloomed due to the early warm weather. Last week they were counting how many bushes still had flowers on them on two hands. Don't get me wrong, it's still beautiful, it just won't be as colorful this year.
I've been lucky enough to go to The Masters twice and my Dad has played the course a number of times, even stayed in Butler cabin once. You need to know people to do both, or be willing to pay an arm and a leg for tickets. There are monster deposits required on all tickets bought through brokers, thousands of dollars! The reason for it is that all tickets must be returned after the event and that is the way the brokers make sure they get them back.

They were talking about the flowers and the colors today....it's to bad , but , i'm sure the course will still look beautiful.

I never knew that about the tickets. Interesting!!...The person i knew worked for the CEO of ING as his personal secretary. I sorta regret not going, and going to see the Braves and the Mets instead.....could of done that anytime...Masters could be a once in a lifetime thing.

Just read that Hunter is not a native Texan.

I still want to see him finish with the top players. And, like Susan said, I just hope it comes down to a close finish for several of the guys and is still a competition to the end.

I wondered about those tickets on Stub Hub. Now, I understand why the hassle.

Very, very cool that you got to be there. I knew the azaleas had mostly bloomed out.

My neighbors were in a lottery for tickets for years and finally got some for one of the practice rounds, but they didn't even know until pretty close to event time. I think four of them ended up driving there from Texas to make it happen.

This is Jim Furyk country around here since he grew up in Lancaster PA. He was a high school friend of my younger brother. Little known fact...Jim was a hell of a basketball and baseball player. He was a very good catcher but gave it up when dad told him he had a golf career and needed to save his hands. If Jim is hot...he's in the hunt but I think the even money is on Tiger...he's got the smell of winning in his nose again

I was given years ago a Furyk Johnny Walker Hat , when he wore them.

Yes , funny how some of the big names struggled today......or i should say the expert picks. But , there is 3 more days.

Phil was all over the place today , looked like some of my drives at times.

We haven't gotten practice round tickets since 2004, and we have entered the lottery every year. Heck last year I had several BNers and other out of state friends put in for tickets. I figured that they weren't giving them to the locals any more, and want people from out of the area to come here and spend their money. NOT ONE of the 15 out of state people got them!

But I will try again for next year. I refuse to pay the brokers the $350 they ask for practice round tickets!

Furyk -2 today with some good names ahead of him plus a few names that won't be there Sunday. I've followed Jim's career pretty closely. He is Mr. Consistent, struggled a little in the last year or so, but just never put as many big wins on the board as I thought he should have. Hell he was #3 or #4 in the world for a period of time. He's made a pile of money and is a really nice guy if you ever meet him. Maybe his second major is waiting in Augusta. With that said, Augusta isn't where I thought he would win....to long and he's too short. He shooting birdies when others are putting for eagles. I'm actually surprised with his short game and driving accuracy he hasn't won a British...he's been pretty close.

My former company would sponsor a meet n great tent at Jim's annual Boys and Girls Club shoot out. It's played in the surburban Philly area. We would take a bus, a big cooler of beer, and bunch of better clients. What a fun day. I've been inside the ropes with many of the pros at this event and have some good pictures and autographs. You haven't seen anything until you are a kneeling few feet behind John Daly when he winds up and puts the drive out of site

i go to the GHO ( i still call it that...Travlers now)....but Daly would bomb drives off the driving range and he would hit the corporate tents....the next year the tents were moved , after that , they moved the range......i use to love and go when they had the Pro-Am , back when Sammy Davis Jr's name was associated with the tournament , The celebs he brought in was amazing , i got to shake hands with Bob Hope. He had hit a drive near where i was standing. It was pretty cool...another plus is the players are more relaxed and you can talk to them and get to hear them chatting with other players...being inside the ropes would be the a awesome experience.

So happy to be able to see so much coverage today in spite of a too busy day for a retired old lady.

Nice that Phil still has confidence that he can play the course and the field of players better. Hey, without that TRIPLE just think...

And what a struggle Tiger had. His score doesn't even indicate what kind of trouble he was in ...what a player. I think he was in awe watching Miguel Angel Jimenez...so steady. Tiger couldn't wait to finish an interview and get out to practice.

They hardly mentioned Hunter Mahan and he's hanging right in there in the pack.
You can see video highlights of players: Hunter's birdies--click scores & stats and on the green circles

Can you believe how good Bubba was today? Loved his hot pink. Ha~~

Nice to see Rory birdie those last two holes.

Freddy has still got it.

Almost and EAGLE on 13.

Never knew any PGA PRO personally, but got to be part of Arnie's Army at The Woodlands. :D

I'd love to get to Augusta sometime. I remember hearing that years when the azaleas are pushing early they pack the bushes with ice to hold them off so they are in full bloom when the tournament comes into town.

They can't "transfer" them to you, but you can give them to friends to use. The tickets are tied to your SS#. When someone dies, their spouse don't even get the tickets, unless they were in their SS#. And when you pay for them, the card or check has to be in the name of the person who's SS# has the account.

a little tib bit i did not know.....Phil is a natural righty!!!!....but plays golf left handed , and Ben Hogan was natural lefty who played righty. I never noticed when he is signing autographs....will have to look closer next time.

My brother is a righty who plays golf left handed , turned lefty when we use to play wiffle ball and hit better that way then from the right side, and stayed that way for baseball and golf. He may putt righthanded though...can't remember.

My step dad is a lefty who uses a left handed grip on his RIGHT handed clubs.
Go figure how he does that and plays way better then I ever could.
